Lone dog (Scarab) winds up in the desert and lost searching for something since a deity (Vergil) appeared before him and set him on the search. He put it off for months before winding up there until he got tired of Vergil constantly appearing in his dreams. He's supposed to meet some other companion out there to travel with so this guy could possibly fill that role? Since Zhuri, Saint, Absinthe, and Output are the antagonists of the story. Instead of being the companion that would've needed some protection, he'd be worked out into a diff sort of character. Probably a rowdy guy who always runs into problems head first thinking he can handle them. Which causes silly mishaps along the way, such as getting them stuck in traps like a mirage in the desert, or having him try to run off the antagonists but ending up somehow giving them the advantage. Absinthe especially is manipulative and would trick him into helping her out with the guise of helping his friend. Along the way he'll have some character growth and guidance from Scarab or a deity that chooses to overlook him. He'll get less impulsive and start thinking things through, though will still be stuck in the ''brute force works'' mindset that he'll slowly come to learn doesn't always work. When it comes to a point in the story where they find what they're searching for, everything he's learned up to that point will be able to help them get out of the trouble that arises. Scarab will be caught at some point and this guy will have to be on his own and figure things out in order to save his friend and get the treasure back... or he may come to figure out just being able to save his friend is most important. Vergil has a lesson to teach with this journey, and I'm thinking it'll be about the importance of growth and support of friends; meaning the treasure wasn't the important thing all along.
