I just looked at your comic, and I wanted to say:
Its visual simplicity really lends to how the more serious and grim references land in the overall silly tone, and it is impossible to not find that charming!
(Also the font you write the text in is so good I do not know any good term to describe it other than 'tasty')
I have a terrible track record with keeping up with things, but I will try for the goats!
