Jiko met Mev while she was searching for a special-size brassiere; Alfa introduced them, noting Mev was a longtime family friend of the Rosenblooms. Since both are delightfully silly, they quickly bonded and now hang out often, with weekly karaoke nights and card games. In short, they share the same orange cat brain cell.

After the initial gratitude of getting hired by the CEO of Rosenbloom LLC wore off, Jiko started showing her true colors: being annoyingly social and full of stupid ideas - all of which Alfa surprisingly accommodated. Not exactly sure how she hasn’t gotten kicked out of the court, yet she continued to remain a close friend to Alfa until the end. She has seen Alfa from the beginning (if the beginning was him already being a skilled businessman). After Alfa was elected president, she tried to distance herself from the political court and only appeared when her talent as a fashion designer was needed and when Alfa was just Alfa, instead of the president or the king. She considers the fashion design she's done for the Rosenbloom family her greatest pieces.
Imagine a kind-hearted person who takes home a stray kitten abandoned in a soggy cardboard box on a rainy day; that's who Orla is to Jiko — the kind of warm-hearted person who chose to take Jiko in when the sensible choice was to walk away. Jiko now feels indebted to her, and repaying that kindness has become her purpose, whether it means recovering a long-lost ancient pearl or cooking for Orla and Aira when they’re too tired from work. Thanks to Orla, Jiko left the underground business behind, though she still teases Orla and Aira by swinging around a prototype pistol (from Yuzu) she once smuggled in her luggage, a hollow gesture that says their kindness won her over, but she can't be tamed.
Even though Jiko got Orla in trouble, even though she caused Orla to have a permanent bite mark on her tentacle, seeing somebody lose everything they have built, breaking down, crying, Orla could not just walk away from this. Everybody deserves a friend that listens when you feel upset, that speaks for you when you have no words left, that helps you get back on your feet when you are at your lowest. So, that day, it only felt natural for Orla to reach out to Jiko. Orla wishes to support Jiko so she can stand on her own again, living a life that she can be proud of. Even better if, from time to time, this comes with a warm meal or a fun outing, Orla will never refuse that.
