Lusus Naturae

the way someone gets the ability to use magic is either born with it because one of their parents had it or they eat a part of say a deer mages body. Someones fur won't do though. It has to be a pebble sized amount of matter. Be it bone or meat.

Which is why a lot of carnivores are magic users. Magic users are very divided and go by many names. Mage. Witch. Warlock. But almost all agree on one thing. If you kill another mage or another mage dies because of you. You have to dispose of his body. Doesn't really matter how as long as non magic users don't get a hold of it. There is a small group of powerful mage’s known as the Lusus naturae. They are basically the leaders of magic users. Two member a pair of twin elk. Had a fight. By the end one brother was badly wounded. His brother could not bring himself to kill his brother or dispose of him.

Not long after he left him. A flock of ravens found him and led a pack of wolves to him. The wolves killed and ate him. Cause they were hungry and they just saw a free meal. They didn’t eat his entire body. The ravens then ate the scraps they left behind. Then a while later. A cougar ate the bones and scraps left behind. Now a pack of wolves. A flock of ravens and a male cougar can now use magic. In this small area. They will all have children in the spring and those children will be able to use magic as well. The lusus naturae do not want that. So they sent out the living twin and some other mages to kill the wolves. The ravens and the cougar. Weather they succeed or not is to be seen. Murmur and his mentor find out what the Lusus Naturae are planning to do. They stop training to try to stop them.
