The Anthropophage [človekakevolč in krovorkin] (a name given by the Olympian Gods, meaning “man-eating creature”) are beings (in their habitat Antrotud, with anthropomorphic traits) composed of darkness and remnants of corpses—a mass of shadow that takes on a humanoid shape. In their purest form, Anthropophages are dark creatures, more closely resembling corpses. Their bodies are shaped by humanoid bones (usually skulls, arms, and legs). They often have drastically deformed, oversized mouths, or mouths in unnatural places for a humanoid (such as the hands, abdomen, chest, etc.). Their hands resemble sharp claws, capable of tearing through the flesh of most intelligent creatures.
The more life and souls an Anthropophage consumes, the greater autonomy it gains to deform and reshape its appearance. This allows them to mimic the look of any humanoid species they prefer. (Seen in Hausosuah/Joshua)
As their name suggests, they feed on intelligent living beings. Consuming both flesh and soul extends their lifespan, making them naturally bloodthirsty hunters and devourers. Their anatomy adapts to whatever conditions they need to survive, with their most notable feature being their large mouths used for consuming victims. Likewise, their hands—naturally shaped like knife-sharp claws—are designed to pierce and slice flesh with ease, while also infecting the victim with darkness like a poison or plague that spreads through the bloodstream to take their life.
An Anthropophage can live eternally, provided it always has access to living beings to feed on. If an Anthropophage goes without feeding for one or two years, it may cease to exist.
Anthropophages are located in the Empire of Krovork, where they make up 46% of the population, and in Arkan (approximately 1%).
Regarding their personality: since they are classified as undead living beings, they typically do not possess the range of personalities seen in other species, lacking knowledge of emotions, senses, and other traits that would make a living being empathetic and emotional. They have extremely low empathy due to being innate predators and are not sociable, as they generally do not require companionship. Nevertheless, Anthropophages can adapt to their environment (just as they adapt their appearance) and may behave in socially acceptable ways to gain an advantage. For example, in Krovork, they have adapted to be loyal creatures devoted to Joshua—even though they naturally do not need to believe in a god.
