I can't really label 2023 as good or bad -- plenty happened, it'd be difficult to categorize a year in two extremes. Artwise, felt like I didn't draw that well or didn't exceed in bettering art. At least, I had a story settled for a dog comic about identity and desperation, and had fun making a thing for a fnaf-verse when that sudden fixation occurred. The discord server for the FNAF thing is still around, and maybe someday I'd like to resurrect it from the dead if people are interested. Apparently Blorbo was also "created" in 2023-- pretty sure he was thought about for a role-play in 2022, but got a design down and lore in 2023. He got a ton of great art this year by very talented people. He is very close to my heart. The Yaoi Cat, "idk" was created fall 2023. He was created from a sudden but unsurprising bout of identity confusion, and I bring him up because he became a project for a 3D class, and became probably the most drawn character of 2023 =w=;. I will give final shoutouts to Harpoon, that watery dog. I will do my best to give him a good home! The ocean is a place I like, so he is something I can connect with. The second final shoutout to Stranger, and the human counterpart Narrator. The Stranger is a narrator for the dog story, meanwhile the humanoid Stranger is something I imagine for myself. The designs are so fantastic, I really love the black and white, and I'm very thankful to have been able to trade for Stranger when it occured.
Movie and show roundup
Does anyone like movies or shows? I do... In any case. This year felt a bit off for movies-- superheroes are having a downfall. If anyone likes superheroes, I do suggest the Kamen Rider series of shows. They're like candy and anime in live action format. I am almost finished with Ex-aid, which aired in 2016. Yaoi gamers may enjoy it.
Godzilla Minus One is a fantasatic kaiju and regular movie. I always thought godzilla movies had problems because they showed too many humans and not enough monster. It turns out it was because the humans were dull and lacklusterly written. Wonka is a fun movie; it was created by the people behind Paddington, and it really felt like it. It reminded me also of the Matilda musical, which is swell since they are both properties of the same book author. Those are two movies I remember being very enjoyable... much like art, it seems I did not do much of movie watching either. I really want to see Poor Things(edit NEVERMIND it’s extremely explicit / triggering) and Dream Scenario.
For shows that came out in 2023, I'd recomend the adult animation Carol and the End of the World. We're almost finished watching it, and it is a li'l exististential, and in a way thought provoking. Unicorn: Warriors Eternal is also an adult animated show I would reccomend, but it has poor pacing. Watch it nevertheless, if you dare.
Life is up and down and down and up. I hope everyone many good moments in 2024. Don't give up hope, life isn't over even when it feels like it's over.
My only resolution is to hopefully create art that brings me joy (which in turn, perhaps will give joy to others?). I want to make stories, hopefully, and share them. Hopefully! And I do hope everyone is able to do things this year that brings them joy.
