Before you explore there are somethings you must know.

First off, it is forbidden to explore alone. If you already have a companion you can chose to take one of them.

If you do not have a companion yet you will have to take along the park ranger's lynnes Melody and Memory.

You can choose to take Melody and Memory instead of one of your own pets with you when exploring the forest. They have the tracker type bonuses and can potentially locate the items associated with that type. Due to them being trained to avoid dangerous situations rarer eggs and items that may be deeper into the dangerous parts of the forest will be less likely to be found and epic items will not be found.

They also have their own special bonus where you can find an extra item each explore. However they can not use any other bonus/lucky item.

You may also have run ins with wild creatures as well as the feral boy. These events are usually harmless and the feral boy may give you a gift if he thinks you can be trusted. 

Wild creatures may rarely follow you home. If this happens you can choose to keep them or send them back to the wild.

There is a very small chance of getting a creature that has not been fully released yet in this way. These pets however may not be compatible with dyes, effects, or edits.
