Fallen Gods

'Fallen Gods' is the working title of a story that I hope to turn into a comic/visual media someday. Fallen Gods takes place in a fantasy world set in a steampunk-ish medieval era where people are direct descendants of animals. While people took on animal-like qualities in ancient times, most regular animals disappeared from the world, and are now considered gods. The only regular animals left in the world are most hoofed animals (ungulates), birds, small to medium rodents, and fish.

The world has only one continent, though it is split into four areas- north, south, east, and west- with each area ruled by one of the Four Kings. These Kings all come from families of 'high blood' ancestry, which consist of Dragons, Unicorns, Merpeople, and Chimeras. The Kings in the present setting of the story are consistently on the cusp of causing civil wars due to their own competing personalities, and individual wants for their part of the world.

Magic and the consistent connection to the gods are huge parts of this world. Magic, though it exists, is not entirely common. People affluent with magic are usually those who have been given a 'godsend'. A 'godsend' is a supernatural power granted to an individual, presumably by the gods, which comes with some sort of 'compensation', i.e. some sort of sacrifice. Godsends range in ability, type, and power, and typically the compensation relates to how powerful it is.

People called 'Immortals', or demigods, are also found in this world. To become an Immortal, one must first die and be selected by the gods in limbo to be revived immediately as an Immortal. All Immortals have a reason for being revived that they must fulfill. Also, as a result of death, aka their compensation, all Immortals have some sort of godsend. (Though it should be noted, not everyone with a godsend is an Immortal.)

Fallen Gods follows the story of Rajah, a freshly made Immortal struggling to cope with his newfound demigod life, his mortal child, and the death of his wife, all while attempting to solve a world-wide mystery, and avoid the constant looming threat of civil war.
