Parity of Persuasion

The Parity of Persuasion is an in-works personal verse.

In an unnamed urban region, a rather unseemly but lively place, a pair of highly questionable organizations have sprung to life. Most people would define them as Cults, or Gangs; both sides follow an unseen guardian that gives them peculiar powers and directs them in a less than clear manner. Not even the members of either side know exactly who or what they're worshiping, or what ulterior motives they may have? But it's clear to both sides that their leader is a source of great power and tends to favor the people who appease their more cryptic demands for attention and amusement. Each gang has a growing number of Elites; these are humans who've been chosen to be tokens of power, pawns in the spirits' games, and trusted targets to communicate with.

The two sides are highly divisive in their style; The first is a rowdy gang of bastards who seem to follow a being with a sweet tooth with a strong sense for chaos and sin. The Elites of the Bittersweet Guardian are imbued with candy themes and sugary flavors, and are usually more than willing to share. The worship of Elites in this often devolves into spilling of nectar-like blood and at times rather intimate, passionate affection. The cultists all want a taste of devotion and are generally in agreement that they gain approval by being rambunctious and enjoyably inappropriate.

On the other side lies the elegant, organized and rather feared team of monochromatic devotees. Their Binary Guardian has a frequent demand for order, power and beauty. A good share of the Elites are nothing short of cold-blooded enforcers who gladly would kill when requested, and the loss of life seems to be quite delightful in the eyes of their superior. Chosen cultists will gladly let their life for approval, sacrificed in a trained and elegant manner. Despite the dangerous and bloodthirsty nature of this mafia-like organization, the Binary Guardian tends to a respectable and tasteful image by shunning second degree murder and acts outside of what are requested, and choosing token Elites that are more weighted towards artistic beauty and elegance than the lethal side that usually follows.

The clans are rarely ever on friendly terms, but with the Binary's sense of order suppressing violent transgressions from their side, and the Bittersweet cult being more rowdy and messy rather than actually malicious entities there's never been any large scale conflicts between them so far.
