Favorite Gijinkas

Posted 8 years, 6 months ago by Mallicat
I've seen a lot of really nice Pokemon gijinkas around lately, and it's made me think about what pokemon I most want to gijinka one day. Not gonna lie, my two top gijinka'd peeps I look forward to most are used really often. But it just makes me love them more

Being the sibling that got Gold Version and Sapphire Version, of course my favorite legendaries ever are going to be:
Kyogre
Ho-oh

There's no doubt in my mind that I'll either design or adopt a gijinka for these two one day, there are already so many great versions of 'em I'm super excited! o9

Making Friends

Posted 8 years, 6 months ago by Mallicat

I've always been kind of awkward when it comes to befriending people online. As of late I've been trying to branch out a bit, but it's strange to go through the effort of actually trying to make friends. What can you do, besides throw yourself at people who you think you'd enjoy talking to, and hope that they respond in kind?

I'm not very good at asking for Skypes either, because a lot of the time I worry I'm being too forward or clingy... =v=a;; I think I might just be overthinking it a bit though, the worst that could happen is them saying no.

This journal doesn't really have a point tbh it's just been a little while since I've made one and I'm a little weird feelin' because of the weather today.

Art.. trade? :v

Hiding and Rewriting

Posted 8 years, 7 months ago by Mallicat

Similar to the Hiding and Reorganizing journal, I've hidden most of my characters until I can go over their profiles and come up with a more comprehensive description for them all! They'll start appearing more in the future, but for now they're going to be hidden from view. :v

Trading is Hard

Posted 8 years, 7 months ago by Mallicat

I don't like trading for characters, it's always such a hassle to be able to figure out what's going to be fair for both parties. You have to take price, attachment, and additional art into consideration, and even if you do come to a compromise there's still the fact that you're losing something in the end.

I'm not much of a trader. I like buyin' stuff. >:v

//throws money at people I didn't make this journal to bump down the previous one no not at all

Loyalty or Obsession?

Posted 9 years, 2 months ago by Mallicat

I really love all the people I've commissioned in my life, but there are some that I don't think I'll ever be able to quit (and others I wouldn't if they hadn't stopped taking commissions).

Since I'm fond of rambling in these journals, I think I'll list a few~ (´▽`ʃƪ)♡ This is gonna be a long one folks.

The person I've been commissioning the longest that I'm hooked on is sonatine, aka Sebby. The reason I call her that is because she used to have a Black Butler related TinierMe account, and the name stuck even after she moved to a new account lmao-- Her art is seriously great though, and while it blew me away in the beginning I've watched her style change and grow to the point where I'm surprised I can even afford her stuff anymore (she really should raise the prices tho jfc). While I used to get linearts from her (a huge amount actually, I have more headshots from her than anybody else) I'm really glad I've started getting into her colored stuff. It's so professional looking and makes me wanna feel the screen as though I'd be able to touch the smoothness~

NEXT IS KORU, who I haven't actually commissioned in a while but every time I see her art I fall in love. She's drawn more of my characters than any other commissioner, in my favorite of her styles too! I can't get enough of the simple chibis fsdjkgjs *dies* The interactions are always so fun and each character's expression is spot on! I've watched her stream countless times, and each time she's gotten the details right on every character she's drawn. Her crisp lines and amazing attention to detail in even something she considers a "simple" style, I'm sure I'll be commissioning her for a long time yet.

Ahhh after Koru I'd have to give Homosexualpancakes attention, because hot dayum does he ever draw men well. I've got a folder art made up of my beautiful male characters thanks to him, and I've even adopted a hot octopus or two. ( •ॢ◡-ॢ) Their Tumblr is more active now, and I'm not entirely sure about his commission status, but he's definitely worth the follow!

There were a bunch of peeps on TinierMe I used to commission semi-regularly too. eevee-moon, nemohmamono, creepydream (their dA names), all of them were super awesome and really sweet. But there was this group of artists who blew a lot of others out of the water.

Erebun is definitely my very favorite from that little gang. I still don't know what has me so captivated by their style, there are too many things to list. The finite detail, the amazing designs, the crisp lines and clean coloring and GAH. Just.. a lot of things. Of course her art was expensive in TinierMe, I had to give up a lot of really good items to get sketches and other pictures. But the art I have gotten from her is definitely some of my most prized posessions, and I look forward to being able to possibly commision her in the future.

Rynnae is my second favorite from the group, but just by like... a hair. They're more-or-less tied I love 'em both. It was such soft lines and colors that blended so well, and sngbdfskljgj she made everything look so good! I'm so glad I found her again on Tumblr, even if she's not open for commissions. She's such a sweet person, definitely follow her if given the chance~

The most fun and colorful art to get from their group was from Bairu, who I'll probably be commissioning for quite a while yet if I can. They have a skill with being able to use bright colors and make their art look amazing, the line thickness is really perfect and every picture I've gotten from 'em has been perfect! When they work with yellow I need to pick my jaw up off the floor, few can execute the color as well as them.

There are so many more but gah I really need to stop rambling. ; A; But man you name an artist I've commissioned and I guarantee I'd be able to write an essay on all the things I love about their art. THEY ARE ALL WONDERFUL.

TinierMe Drama Continues

Posted 9 years, 2 months ago by Mallicat

It's really annoying when I see adopt makers attempting to sell designs they ripped off of TinierMe. Especially when they've made no effort to change the color palette or any specific details on the clothes. Like really?? You think just because the site closed down three years ago people won't remember what stuff looked like?

When you're as obsessed as I was with that game, details like that don't fade with time. While it's definitely harder to remember the names of all the items (which I could do when the game was still up and running) I haven't forgotten any of the clothes, eyes, or other designs the English site produced before closing (the Japanese site is still up and running though).

The reason I'm complaining about this is because I had a run in with a few TinierMe designs being sold as potential adopts, but this time the person was really chill about it and had no qualms taking the designs down. I'm glad, that rarely happens when I confront people about it.

"The design isn't /that/ similar" or "I've never played that game" phrases are usually thrown around, proceeded with their friends saying something stupid before I report the deviation and move on. Ain't nobody got time for that.
