To Már, talking with Fleur is less like having a conversation and more like being drawn into a domestic adventure. She finds Fleur's buoyancy cathartic and addictive, and she's willing to take her side on anything based on sheer excitement alone.
Although the two provide a glaring superficial contrast, deep down they share the same freehearted core.
Sometimes, the most appropriate path is to withhold yourself and be sensible. This is not the case for Fleur with Már. Despite her otherwise levelheadedness, Már matches Fleur's zeal and then some, allowing her to free her true uninhibited self.
You couldn't have guessed, but when they're on their own the tone becomes surprisingly peaceful.
Már sees Halla for the tender person she really is, and while she'll tease her for it occasionally, she understands when enough is enough and ultimately just wants Halla to feel at ease. Their mutual reticence also means they share jokes so subtle most can't tell anything happened at all.
Halla is Már's go-to for someone to bring to a show or gallery, since their tastes overlap in some areas but each always has their own perspective. Their private discussions often skew philosophical or artistic since, despite her disposition, Már considers Halla to be a very emotionally intelligent person with a lot of insight (when it comes to anyone but herself).
Halla sees Már as a strong, reliable person who can not only communicate her emotions honestly, but can also understand other people's thoughts and respond genuinely. She often feels ashamed for having to rely on deflection to deal with vulnerability, but Már's own openness provides a supportive space where Halla never feels that she has to worry about being judged.
Since meeting Már, Halla has grown much more outgoing (though it may not seem like it). Beneath her aloof facade, she's a much happier person now, and hopes to one day state outright her affection for her friends.
Már and Carys have been friends since childhood, so despite the two's idiosyncrasies, they have a deep mutual understanding and feel completely at home together. Carys' nonchalance is exactly what Már needs in times of stress or concern, and the peace she's seemingly made with the world means that whenever Már does need comfort or advice, she finds it in Carys.
More than anyone, Már understands Carys, and the two have almost their own language when together. She understands that Carys is unconventional, but is never actually disconcerted by anything she says or does, and truly finds her to be a very intelligent and sweet person.
Carys has always struggled to socialise and relate with her peers, so Már being her longest standing friend makes her not only a rare exception but also a treasured one. Regardless of their many differences, Már has always embraced Carys for who she is, and Carys returns that benevolence with unwavering respect and camaraderie.
Having seen Már at her worst and most emotionally vulnerable, even being a few years her senior, doesn't change how Carys admires her. She's always finding new things to appreciate in her, so lending a helping hand or shoulder to cry on is something she's always happy to do.
