Opalescans

Various sparkly beasts who live in the realm of the Fourth Princess.  Most Opalescans are simple sparkledogs, they have a base species and various traits piled on top.  Occasionally you get unique, cohesive species, and those are usually sectioned off into a habitat to themselves.

Locations in Opalesca:

• Mainland Opalesca - A large island dominated by a plateau.  At the top is Princess Fantastic's royal palace.  A path spirals down through the plateau and down to the shoreline.
  • Castle and Castle Town - Princess Fantastic's base of operations, and the lively village that congregates around her.  A quaint place with cute little shops.  The source of Opalesca's waterfall is within the lowest floor of the castle.
  • Upper Forest - A temperate forest to the west of Castle Town.
  • Luminous Road - A village carved from stone, inside the tunnel that winds through the plateau and connects Castle Town to Palace Port.  Glowing crystals line the walls of the tunnel.  Residents of Luminous Road are mostly miners and crafters who use those crystals.
  • Palace Port - The mainland harbor.  The economic capital of Princessentia, where the most trade is conducted.
  • Waterfell - A village behind and under the Opalescan waterfall.  Inhabited by aquatic beasts who live in small caverns in the bay.
  • Cape Candycotton - A village on the far edge of the bay, opposite from Palace Port.  The town is built under a giant cotton candy tree.  The residents of Cape Candycotton are clowns.
  • Prismatic Plains - A peaceful grassland expanse to the west of Cape Candycotton.  Home mostly to equines.
  • Lower Forest - A tropical rainforest in the northwest, encompassing much of the far side of Opalesca.
  • Windeyre Ridge - The rocky cliff walls of the northeast, where the castle plateau juts out into the sea.  Inhabitable by flying creatures, mostly gryphons.
• Birthstone - Its own rather large island to the southwest of the mainland.  Mostly urbanized, but with lush wilderness around the shoreline.  The center of the island features a crystalline pillar that reaches up into the sky, visible from the other islands.  This pillar anchors Birthstone to the game worlds that the Princesses frequently visit.  ((Pokemon gijinkas live here lol)
• Valleymander - A smaller island to the east.  The island is crescent-shaped, but dominated by a lush green mountain range, creating a sort of pocket of forested mountain walls with seawater at their feet.  Inhabited by mainly dragons.
• Idyllwood - A small island of mostly forested lowlands, with a single medium-sized mountain and one small placid river.  Everything here feels smaller.  Inhabitants are mostly rodents, hedgehogs, raccoons, and other harmless creatures who live happy little lives in little burrows.
• Carousel - The northernmost island of Opalesca.  The shoreline is extremely cold, but a climate-controlled glass dome protects the center of the island.  Within the dome a garden thrives.  Carousel is home to fairies, arctic animals, and a college of astronomy.
• Craftine - The manufacturing capital of Princessentia.  All the best foods, textiles, and crafts come from Craftine.  The inhabitants are very small bunnylike creatures who can create incredibly intricate works with their tiny hands.  They grow their own food and have a thriving fashion scene.  Because everything on Craftine is incredibly small (the average citizen is 6 inches tall), creatures from other islands are rarely permitted to visit.  Some of the smaller mice and rats from Idyllwood can live here peacefully, and they would be considered very big, strong beasts.  Dragons from Valleymander have agreed to protect Craftine from large threats in exchange for pretty trinkets of appreciation.
