Heyo, hope everyone is doing well today! I hope you all had a safe New Year's Eve. 

2025 can go kick rocks as I give it two big middle fingers and say goodbye to it. I lost my dad in October and I'm still struggling with that, so it's easily the worst year of my life, at least so far :') 

Looking forward to this year though, as my fiance and I are more seriously discussing wedding plans and we have a place picked out for the ceremony. We just need to pick out and finalize a date and start doing better at setting money aside for it. We also still haven't picked out matching rings, but we have an idea of the type of ring we want to get for each other!

As for resolutions... I want to be better at not impulse spending just because I have a little extra money. I've struggled with impulsivity, especially the last few months, chasing a short dopamine high from getting something new and shiny and then regretting it later because that's less money we have for more important things. I also want to do more art... I had a lot of fun during Art Fight and want to try and continue the momentum I had during AF this past year.

Hey all. I know I don't know a ton of you personally, but wanted to reach out... Kind of generically? 

This past Sunday (October 5th), my dad passed away somewhat unexpectedly. His health was on the decline we knew, but we didn't know just how bad it was. 

My dad did not have life insurance and my mom was planning on retiring at the end of this school year. She doesn't have much income and will also be stuck with a lot of hospital bills (my dad was in and out of the hospital a lot this last year) in addition to needing to clean out their house for various reasons. 

Things are a huge mess and we are all struggling. One of our biggest stressors is, despite having a lot of well wishes and support with like grocery runs and such, financially my mom will be in a huge bind. With her permission, she allowed my fiance to put together a temporary GoFundMe to try and get a little bit of extra help for the celebration of life expenses, which we are having next weekend. 

Every little bit would help. If by some miracle we exceed our goal, the rest will go towards living expenses and just getting by for a bit until she can get everything figured out for income, social security, etc.
