Sticks & Stones is a story inspired by object shows like ONE, inanimate insanity, etc. it’s a non-competition object show story.
It follows Sword in the Stone and the objects in his village, The Valley of Vernal Aves, a gentle and homely village that lives in front of a large meadow between two mountains.
The world is full of many dangers, it’s common for objects to meet a bitter end. However, above them are Birds and their songs, symbol of their faith and the hope to return to the sky after death.
A world created by the gods, Solis, the hotty and chaotic and Fengari, the quiet and calculating. Solis and Fengari shone light onto the world that allowed objects to come to life, a lucky few gaining magic when the gods were at their highest point in the sky. It’s said Fengari created birds of flight to watch over the objects and act as vessels after death while Solis created One-of-a-kinds, objects who were immortal and the only kind of their object who could serve as demi-gods the objects could celebrate and learn from.
The gods then carefully watched over their creation, allowing life to grow without much interference.
They believed good and evil were necessary for a balanced world, a cruel and distant lens that allowed for a divide in objects and for cruelty to run rampant.
Objects were separated into two categories, Monster objects, objects whos limbs and behaviors are evolved from animals like simple rabbits or dragons, and Humanoid objects, objects without those traits and whose limbs are more humanoid.
As the world stands now, it’s in a medieval like state, technology is rare to come across or never existed in the first place. Objects live in villages and cities scattered around the world with mythical creatures living in between in hidden brush and large meadows.
Magic is gained from the gods, more commonly at their highest peak but it can be gained whenever. Solis provides stronger magic than Fengari, but when both are aligned together in an Eclipse, the magic gained can reach dangerous levels so it’s common for objects born under an eclipse to get killed. Some objects possessed magic, some don’t. This resulted in the creation of Cursed Magic, the opposite of Natural magic, magic that came to objects at birth and typically related to what object they were. Cursed magic could be gained after birth, often “ cursed “ on objects due to most having consequences for having it. Cursed magic often doesn’t manifest as magic that related to an object and some don’t even need to serve the object that possesses them.
Eclipse magic is seen as “unnatural“ due to its nature of not relating to the object thats holds it and, of course, being extremely dangerous to be around due to having the power of two gods.
