The River of Stars
Four clans are nestled at the foot of a great mountain range, with a river pouring down from the peaks and winding through the territories. This is the River of Stars. These clans have been in an era of peace for countless moons, with only minor conflicts in recent history. Though, The Dark Forest is rearing it's ugly head, having been cast away and forgotten since the sacrifice of FrigidStar many moons ago. Now, they have their claws dug deep into the hearts of two young EmberClan warriors, PitchFeather and SilkHeart. The leadership of the four clans are doing their best to keep the secret of the Dark Forest hidden from the general populous, but with each sun rise that's proving more and more difficult.
FlowClan - Faithful, Wise, Gentle
FlowClan is the guardian of the River Source, the origin point of the River of Stars and where the cats of the territories communicate with StarClan. Thus, most of their traditions and culture revolve around water, as the River of Stars flows straight through their camp.
FlowClan cats are born with a deep connection to StarClan, being bathed in the waters of the River of Stars shortly after their birth. Some cats connections are much stronger than others, being born with powers related to spirituality like Spirit Sight and Dreamwalking, among others. These cats are destined to become Stargazers, a role exclusive to FlowClan.
While FlowClan healers still commune with StarClan, there is less focus on the spiritual aspects of their jobs than the other clans.
EmberClan - Fierce, Resilient, Resourceful
Long ago, the cats of EmberClan worshipped the Dark Forest rather than StarClan, using the Scorched Forest as their place to communicate with their chosen ancestors. Their worship of the Dark Forest was the origin of their more harsh traditions and customs, leftover influences from their days under the paws of the Place of No Stars. The only cats to still know of the Dark Forests existence is the leadership of each clan, and it's a well kept secret, or so they thought...
The cat that freed them, FrigidStar, did so by taking the weight of EmberClans misdeeds into herself. StarClan honoured her sacrifice, wiping the memory of the Dark Forest from the memories of living cats. Now, the clans believe EmberClan simply didn't worship any ancestors, until recently.
RootClan - Grounded, Intelligent, Crafty
RootClan leadership had historically been divided, never agreeing on how to go about allocating resources and assigning jobs. This culminated in a vicious arguement between the leader and deputy at the time, their shouting louder than the roaring wind and rain of that night. But when lighting struck the Centre Tree, where meetings were held and the leader slept, the tree was split down the middle, one side bowing and leaning while the other side stood tall. The healer at the time said this was a sign from StarClan, that RootClan would be the first clan with two leaders, and divide their warriors based on their skill sets. This gave rise to Scouts and Guardians.
Upon death, RootClan cats are buried with a bundle of seeds in a grove on the north end of their territory. Leaders are buried with the seed of a tree, while healers are typically buried with herbs. Other cats are buried with seeds of their choice, typically this plant is worn by them in life, and represents them as an individual.
ZephyrClan - Wild, Adventurous, Free
ZephyrClan has the largest territory, yet the smallest population, making them quite the illusive bunch, this isn't intentional by any means, they just don't cross with their neighbors often.
