MULGDUNE

OVERVIEW

Mulgdune is a lesser-known realm filled with souls and spirits that left the mortal worlds in various tragic ways and have had their souls tainted as a result. Many of the spirits here are dog-like in form or resemble rotted dragons and humanoids, but all of them shriek with rage when they spot a non-tainted soul among them. Mulgdune itself is a flesh filled world with walls and floors made of rotted scraps of fur, feathers, bone, meat, skin, and blood that flows all over the endless cavern. Everywhere you step you can hear screams, shrieks, and yells from all sorts of enraged spirits, but in certain places large roars echo all throughout the red realm and silence whatever spirits hear them.

The spirits here can leave the realm with the help of any experienced sorcerer or necromancer but enter the world as hateful creatures that only run around and kill before they drop dead themselves from exhaustion. Some spirits can be set free before they are fully fueled by their hatred, but few get a chance to do so as no one is really able to help them in the realm.

RANKING

TAINTED SPIRITS

Any poor soul that died without fulfillment or was killed in just about any horrible way becomes a tainted spirit, a creature left to scream in the shadows and seek whatever vengeance it can within this realm.

CURSED SPIRITS

Cursed spirits are a little more passive than the tainted ones, and instead of inflicting their rage upon others they stay alone in a secluded spot and reminisce before a souleater finds them and turns them into a tainted spirit. Cursed spirits can be set free before they are turned, and if they are, they go to Kovara.

SOULEATER

Large creatures filled with malice that feast on the rotted flesh of the surrounding corpses and shred the souls of any remaining cursed spirits. Souleaters are easy to spot as their skulls, tails, spine, and claws are all exposed unlike the other spirits that are formed around their deaths.

Their pained screams still echo around your head, even as you leave, even when you try to shut them out, even when you die.

FACTIONS/ORGANIZATIONS

FORGOTTEN GARDENS

A mostly dead swathe of large gardens that were once well taken care of and believed to be sacred. A strange tori gate sits in the middle of the gardens and radiates dark energy, filling the minds of anyone that gets closer to it with the deep chimes of a bell. No spirits can be found here; not even sound.

THE KING'S GRAVE

Massive ruins of a large castle-like manor that sits partially hidden on a meaty cliff. The building is crawling with tainted spirits and cries but is also filled with ancient papers and items that hint to Mulgdune's past.

ABOUT

There are no animals in this world, only the spirits that roam or hide away among the fleshy walls and blood-soaked floors. No plants exist here either, but many red structures are carved around the endless cavern and their constant dripping of blood has created several pools or lakes that allow strange, tendon-like tendrils to grow from the iron-rich substance.

BLOOD-HOLLOW FALLS

A massive dip in the red cavern leads to a deep pool of blood surrounded and filled by the flowing waterfalls coming from higher up in the realm. Spirits surround this hole and dare not fall into it and the pool below in fear of drowning or being eaten by something that continuously roars from its depths.

THE TENDONS

Stretching all across the realm are long and sturdy bridges of flesh that hang down and connect different red platforms to each other or form a bunch of loops in the rotten air that spirits hide on. Most of these structures are torn in places and send steady streams of blood down to the floor below.
