No one's really sure how it came to be like this, but in some fantastical world, creatures of various shapes and sizes have had curses place upon them. Typically, these curses are in the vein of "don't do ____ or else". The only known way for these creatures to break their curse it to do some kind of ritual with a being from another world. Usually this "being" is a human child.
