Their relationship is mostly tied to business, but they also get along well in conversation. (Editing still) Despite it not being his reason for stopping by, Adair knows the power of gossip and some of the information heās learned from Fione has been useful in the pastā¦ and in exchange, Fione gets some information about which faces about town have ended up stopping by Adairās shopā¦ he never tells her their purchases, of course, but any lilā drop of gossip creates a ripple so she still values it.
Still, itās probably a bit unnerving how well Fione seems to be able to predict what he needs from herā¦
Adairās shop is the only one that Beckett would call himself a loyal customer to- because itās the only one he can visit no matter what continent of Griffia heās in. He always gets a little starstruck when he enters his shop- the mysticism and spiritual/magical energy fills every nook and cranny. It was overwhelming at first, but now it gives him a sense of belonging. (āIt knows me.ā Is how he put it to Adair once.)
Beckett appreciates Adairās attentiveness when helping him find things. At first their conversations were mostly one-sided, with Beckett listening with interest to Adair. As their conversations began to move from small talk and Adairās products to alchemy and magical theory, Adair started asking for his opinion more. Slowly their conversations have become less one-sided, and though Beckett still speaks bluntly, sometimes he finds himself talking with Adair listening intently.
There are few folk in the world that Beckett can fall into an āeasyā conversation with, few that scratch the surface of the depth hidden under Beckettās blunt words and stony expression. Adair, it seems, is one of them.
Considers him a loyal customer and enjoys his visits, despite his colder demeanor. Beckett always says what he means, and Adair appreciates his candidness. Loves to hear his opinion on his newest store offerings.
He'd be lying to himself if he said he wasn't interested in her abilities. However she is far too nosy for her own good. In exchange for providing new reading material for her, she has to stay out of his shop, and especially away from the door. No exceptions!
Curious about his shop, but was banned from entering due to her snooping. She gets a lot of her books from him (in exchange for her leaving him alone), and calls it a win!
At first, he was a welcome new customer. The two had witty small talk while Adair browsed the books in his store and Roux enjoyed the intellectual stimulation. However, the conflict of egos quickly came to the forefront as the two talked more and knowledge clashed with knowledge.
Roux finds use for the verbal debate practice, but he does find it odd how often Adair manages to find his store. Itās always moving around Griffia, after allā¦ Heās not sure of Adairās motivations, but he is beginning to suspect the other poses more of a threat to the true nature of his job than meets the eye.
Thereās nothing worse than an intelligent, silver-tongued folk with a thirst for powerā¦
Suspicious about the true nature of his library. They often butt heads over small details, constantly trying to correct each other. Adair finds a faint pleasure in trying to get under his skin whilst trying to get him to divulge information. Even though he is often unable to, Adair certainly enjoys the challenge of their banter. He feels a certain degree of intrigue with Roux and his mysterious aura, so he finds himself frequently checking up on him and his library wherever it happens to appear.
**Smirks a bit, but that smirk turns into a sweet smile.**
"Kija is... Something else. When we first met, I couldn't stand his arrogance, and his flirtatious ways. Was almost enough to make me break my rule and trash my pub just to get him to leave." **Sighs happily as she leans closer onto the bar.**
"But now? I can't stand the thought of him never coming back. Even if he has to go out for a few months to travel. I know deep in my heart I wont be happy until I see him again."
"However, if you tell him any of this." **Holds up bottle of something unknown, by the spout of the container,**
"I will bash you so hard you will be thrown into last week."
*Laughs with a wide grin* "Oh Opal? Well she's.."*scratches neck and features soften* "She sure is something all right. Ever since the first night I walked into her bar, something kept drawing me back. Month after month, I'd always return there after all of my journeys. I've always loved the atmosphere of that place, warm and inviting ya know? And she'd always give me this big smile whenever she saw me, like all of her features were struck by sunlight." *Blushes slightly* She's..beautiful. And I'd be lying if I didn't admit she's a sizable part of why I keep returning there."
