Voidborn are semi-anthropomorphic humanoids that are born from the remnants of mage's spells. They resemble faun-like creatures, with long, furred, hooved digitigrade legs, and two toes. Atop their heads are adorned with floating, or even attached, horns in all different shapes and sizes. They sport furred ears and tails of varying sized and shapes, with a colourful swath of hair at the base of their tails that reflects the void they were spawned from. They display remnants of the spells from which their void was created, some sporting magmatic cracks in their skin, others ice shards growing from their spine. However, they are also shaped by their environments, some growing a longer mane for colder climates, while others might have almost unnatural balance on mountains. Their pupilless eyes smoke with an almost tangible fluidic substance, akin to a gaseous ink, that also reflects their void when under emotional duress or using their powers. With their seemingly endless array of creation circumstances, Voidborn are a versatile closed species with fun ARPG-like options and a whole world to explore.

Breeds
What kind are you?

As of current, Voidborn have only two main breeds - Mammilian [Standard] and Nautical. This is subject to change, of course, as time goes on. The major differences in these two breeds is that Nautical take after fish and other aquatic life, instead of mammilian and land-locked based life. A Nautical's void-tainted hair gives way to fantastical and beautiful void-tainted fins, or perhaps... something more?

Lore
What do you know?

Since the dawn of magic and the birth of those who could control it, Voidborn have existed. Every spell flung and small incantation spoken would spark little bits of magical residue that would, eventually, lose all of its power. The environment that it dispersed into, in turn, energizes it, and when the energy gets high enough, it rips a void rift into existence and births a fully-formed young-adult voidborn.

Voidborn are naturally adept at magic and can control it on a whim, though newly-created Voidborn are unlikely to be able to control much of any of it. They initially start out only able to use the spell that they were created from, but can branch out and become incredibly powerful wizards. These creatures also have a tendancy to create their own spells, enchantments, and rituals, making them a valuable asset to military organizations and civilians alike.

In terms of hierarchy for their cities, it is most notably the younger that are in power. They are guided by their elders, but the Voidborn do not like being held back as a society, and feel as though their juniors can do a lot of good for their society as a whole. Gender identity, sexuality, kinks, and most other things are not stigmatized and are fairly accepted. Children birthed by two Voidborn are common, and are not looked down upon.

The World
Where are you?

The planet Caer Elestor is an iron planet in a vast solar system with twenty-seven other planets. Caer Elestor is about 12.7 times bigger than Earth and its gravity is about the same.

A single day lasts 47.09 hours and a year lasts 459 days. 3 moons orbit the planet, and Caer Elestor itself orbits an orange sun in a circular orbit.

The plant-like organisms on this planet are made up of tall grasses and flowers, with even taller fungi and huge trees. Shrubs are non-existent and bushes are so rare they might as well be. While flowers come in more shapes and colors than grasses, they both share a wide variety of scents, most of which are related to the nutrients in their area. The fungi are tall, strong and, like the grasses and flowers, scented. The trees are also scented, but it's much harder to detect.

Most plant-like organisms tend to grow in one place or at least float around in water, but a small amount of species on this planet isn't content with this, mainly due to the risk of a lack of nutrients in the soil around it. So instead these species try to attach themselves to small animals. Their survival has a better chance if they manage to intertwine with a furry animal for more grasp. After they've attached themselves to an animal, it will use dirt, dead skin and anything else that may fall on the animal's skin as nutrients, but some may even pierce the skin to take nutrients from the animal's blood.

The underwater world of this planet is truly a feast for the eyes. Thousands of different soft and hard coral species cover the ocean floors, most of which have a form of bioluminescence, which makes the night even more magical than the day. These bioluminescent corals offer homes to plenty of creatures, which they need to be cleaned, while at the same time trying to attract the very same creatures with their lights so they can eat them. A truly remarkable balance. The underwater world also has its fair share of forests. Mostly in the form of long, grass-like waterplants, but there are few dozens places on this planet where actual underwater forests grow. The species in these forests aren't actual trees, but they work in similar ways. Roots keep them in place, while a trunk helps carry the nutrients to every part of its body. At the top, branch-like tentacles grow to feed on micro-organisms near the surface. These tentacles often reach above the surface, giving the water a mysterious and eerie look.

The beings on this planet seem to reflect all manner of species. Humans, elves, dwarves, you name it. Even anthropomorphic animals roam. New species seem to be discovered all the time.
Geno Rolls & MYOs
Where's your logbook?

Voidborn can be obtained by two different means: rolling for a geno [a set of genomes that make up what your voidborn is], or purchasing a MYO [Make Your Own] ticket. Please note that all must be approved by me [nox-pluviam] or a mod.

Rolling for a geno can happen for first-time owners, monthly, and if you successfully complete a challenge or multiple challenges. Trait rarity will stay at common for all of these rolls, however, challenges might reward an uncommon geno roll. The environment they spawned in, the spell they were created from, gender, breed, 3 traits, and any mutations are what is randomly rolled in a geno roll. First time rollers should comment with "Newcomer roll!", Challenge rollers should comment with "Challenge roll!" [provide proof of Venali], and MYO purchasers should comment with "[Rarity] MYO please!" or something of the sort.

MYO tickets allow you to pick all of your traits and everything else. Price depends on if you would like common [10USD], uncommon [15USD], or rare [20USD] traits, and generally come with a mutation of the same rarity.

Challenges
Where's your trophy?

"Venali" are the currency in Caer Elestor. They are what you would be earning in challenges and what you would be turning in. All challenges can be repeated.
