Altais
(named after a star in the Draco constellation)
Altais are divine like creatures born from the energy of a total solar/lunar eclipse.
They stand in between gods and mortals with a lot of altais protecting from various calamities and dangers.
Life span: 5000+ if not more
Biology, magic, etc:
Magic:
Altais are naturally born magical creatures so they can use magic freely, and although they can use all types of it, Solar seem to have more affinity to fire while
Lunar to ice/water and then Cloud types have more affinity to wind magic.
Broken altais has much less energy reserves(unless they feed a lot) so they tend to be weak with magic.
They can use it to transform into more humanoid form, divination and so on, all kinds of things!
Deep water:
Altais never go into deeper water bodies as it's not their domain. They will use it but never go deep into it or too long as they believe that
other water gods and deities reside inside, and that each has it's own affinity that shouldn't be disturbed by a difference presence like theirs.
Solar/Lunar tail Ornaments:
This certain ornament made most commonly from either gold or silver and other similiar materials (but other rarer versions can be from precious stones or decorated with them).
These ornaments work like solar panels, they charge the altais in necessary energy used from anything to magic.
Solar altais can only charge with the sunlight while lunar only with the moonlight, althought stars may give a very tiny amount, it's barely noticable.
Solar will sleep/rest to conserve energy during the night and Lunar during the day, though Lunar altais have to conserve energy during new moon as well.
The ornaments are very sturdy but forcefully breaking them will result in the altais unable to take energy from the sun/moon.
Small chippings or small amounts of broken parts can cause slight malfunction in their energy use.
They make sure to take care of them everyday and look out for wear and tear. Small damage will heal over time.
Altais born without a tail ornament are as rare as Broken ones as they depend on them and so have to feed of living things instead. Some aren't able to survive like this.
Third eyes:
Often called Lunar or Solar Eye respectively, these eyes can look far into the galaxy. The more eyes, the wider and farther their sight can reach.
Both altais will open their third eye/s and close their normal ones, this is so normal sight doesn't interfere with their special vision.
An altais may opt into never using the third eye if they don't see the need to use it for whatever they do.
Body:
Altais come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, their appearance aren't defined by anything so they can look young, old, muscular, slim, androgynous etc.
Size:
Average altais stand up to around 2 metres with some reaching even taller to around 2.50m or so!
They can also be shorter than 2m but usually no shorter than 1.60m.
Sleeping:
A Solar altais third eye will close when asleep while Lunar's will open.
The tails are always kept high up but when asleep or resting they will curl up and lay them down with the ornament close by,
the ornaments will usually slightly dull out to not lose energy as well as to not attract anything unwanted.
Birth:
Altais are born (or created) from the eclipse energy itself and thus do not have parent and although they
can engage in sexual activity for their own pleasure, they can't have offspring of their own.
When born, they already have their original size (they can't grow in size thought they can change size/height temporarily with magic.
All their senses are fully functioning and can feed or charge at the instant they come to life.
Death:
Altais, just like the stars and all living creatures, reach their end at some point though that may take a very long time compared with other living things.
When their time comes they always die during a total lunar or solar eclipse- the same energy they were brought to life with return
back once again to the sun and the moon, aiding the birth of a new altais.
Forms and colouration types:
Solar form:
Born during a total solar eclipse, they have sun like shaped marks on their chest and bear a tail ornament in shape of it as well.
Some of their body parts may seem like they're shining under light or almost glowing.
Lunar form:
Born during a total lunar eclipse, and just like Solar but instead they have
moon shape marking and ornament.
Often have star like dots on their bodies.
Broken form:
A very rare type of altais who is born before a total eclipse even happens. Unlike the other counterparts these are unable to feel and see light at all,
together with a broken ornament they are unable to gain any kind of energy from the moon or the sunlight thus have to resort
into taking it from living things such as plants and other living creatures (creatures will give them more energy than plants). Some aren't able to survive in such state.
They have dark or black ornaments that are largely broken, the eclipse mark on their bodies is black and has a black hole in the middle blacking it out.
Some black smoke can be seen seething out of their broken ornament or bodies.
Rarities and variations:
Cloud:
An altais with cloud traits is usually much rarer to see and more divine than others, they have more energy reserves as well.
They have a natural ability to fly.
Wings:
Some altais may grow wings but it's very rare, they can come in either bat like or feathery forms but those wings are marely just
an abnormality and can be as decoration. Abnormally growing from their bodies and cannot be used for flying. (Unless it's a cloud type that may just seem like flying
even if they flap the wings, it's really just their natural ability to stay airborn in the end).
The wings that grow are often too small for their body size and weight and just aren't built for flight.
Multiple horns:
Altais may rarely come with more than one set of horns. They are more likely seen in Broken altais too.
