Setting

Slice of Life | Modern | Real World

The Cobbler Foster Home resides in the outskirts of typical American suburbs. The house is the sole setting of the story and an integral character, itself- a two story Victorian mansion, outfitted for all the needs of an inexhaustible amount of boys aged 2 to 17. Although it boasts impressive architecture, it is a shabby comparison to its original state. While elements of its previous luxuries can still be found throughout the house, it has become an ecclectic mix of donated furniture, kids decor, and modern conveniences, all worn down by the generations of children who have passed through its halls.

The all-boy home is run solely by Marianne and Hirschel Cobbler, a wealthy older couple who never had children of their own. In place of hired help, every boy has their duty in the household based on their age, and they are all homeschooled in the East wing of the building. The boys are divided into two age groups based on puberty. Other than house duties, the groups don't often cross paths as they reside on separate sides of the mansion with the common areas in between.

Despite good intentions, the Cobblers are far from a perfect foster family. Drama, mischief, bullying, and a whole lot of whining are common in the household where the boys outnumber the rooms of the house. Often left to their own devices, the boys find plenty of ways to entertain themselves, making the Cobbler Foster Home an enthralling story with more twists and turns than a waterpark ride.
