Demons of Dantalion
There are three categories of beings in this world, lesser demons, part-demons and humans, but only the lesser demons are kept as pets. Lesser demons are intelligent carnivorous animals that have traits common to both dogs (their body, legs, and paw shape) and reptiles (their head and tail shape, and smooth skin). They are the size of a large dog, with their head reaching the average person's kip, and have fire-proof and heat-proof reptilian skin. Some have magical or elemental powers such as telekinesis and pyrokinesis, while others can "see" through psychic echolocation. They have psychic abilities that enable them to bond with part-demons and understand instinctively the rules of their society. They are hermaphrodites and can produce viable spawn (laid in eggs) with any member of their species. Their average lifespan is between 50 and 60 years but some have been known to live up to 200 years.
