Salem, having been sold to a gang to pay off a debt, finally warmed up to the man who's been kindest to her, even going out of his way to work nights so she could have a room to herself to sleep. Intimidated at first by the sheer size of the Shire horse, she slowly learned that he purposefully gentled himself for her; A small, comforting side-hug could quickly turn into him nearly knocking one of his gangmates over as he gave them a hearty smack on the back while they all laughed. He made sure she was fed, safe, and gave her freedom to be her genuine, soft-spoken self in the hostile world she'd been thrown into; And for that, she fell in love with him.
