You ever wonder

Posted 2 years, 2 months ago by SqueeBat

You ever wonder why a character just suddenly takes off in popularity? Like chilling there for a year and BOOM, suddenly 10+ likes in an hour? I know about featured and random, but are that many people getting this random character at once? XD

Old designs!

Posted 2 years, 8 months ago by SqueeBat

Sorry if I spam your feeds soon!! I have dug up some of my old folders from adopts of yesteryear XD Sorry if I randomly tag people I bought from 2015-2018, looking up who has TH and who doesn't to credit properly.  I have lost interests in some designs (might move to better homes) but most give me a giddy nostalgia XD

I got a few of these from friends and people I lost contact with. I'll try and post who I got them from, too. If I need a clarification on a character, just DM me!

About The Doctors (Pestis)

Posted 6 years, 9 months ago by SqueeBat

Pestis (commonly called The Doctors)

History:

The Black Death started to take hold in 1343, traveling through Central Asia and moving west. It was then that The Great Alchemist, Moriaen, started to take notice. He loved studying diseases and was seeing a pattern to this becoming quite the pandemic. He was elated to see how right he was. He even took a rare trip to the mortal plane to inspect what was occurring.  He then started to keep designing more rats to carry the disease, but needed a much more fun way to create chaos and perpetuate the pandemic. He then started to design his own creature. He took the blood of one of his cohorts, Dr. Miasma, and designed his own creature. In 1618, they were ready and released first in Italy, then in England and France to perpetuate the next pandemics. It seemed the people followed suit in donning masks and robes soon after.

During this time, many of the Pestis became carriers of the bubonic form of the disease Yersinia pestis bacterium, or more simply called the plague. They often ate the nearly or newly dead. Disease becoming their source of food and it was readily available. They even started to reproduce on their own and have families. However, the rise of them didn’t last as they soon were starting to be noticed for the monsters they were and were often tried as witches and killed. They soon went into hiding with their families as they become more rare. They worship the Great Alchemist as their god and creator, but he had become bored of them and did not recall them to safety. He does check on them time to time, waiting for another pandemic that might give them rise once more.

Personality:

Personality of the first generation is normally strict, quiet, and seem to wish to help, though not all had the drive to help, some found it a fun experiment and made the spread of the plague much worse. Further generations have more varied personalities. Some staying like their parents, others wishing to be their own creature. Every doctor seems to have a strong knowledge or ability to learn about the anatomy of people and other monsters, often becoming doctors in a more traditional sense.

Appearance:

Pestis look quite a bit like plague doctors seen during the rise of the second wave of Black Death in the 1600s. The first generation of them can be indistinguishable from a person donning the robes to help. Their robes are most often seen in blacks, browns, and greys, sometimes with a slight tint of green to them, Hybrids can have some colour variation, but it is always muted, washed out, or otherwise dulled. Robes vary and seem to be decided by the individual. Robes are a part of their body and if removed by force, it is quite painful for them, they can, however, remove them themselves with no pain. The skin, if seen, is various shades of grey with some black accents and normally brindled and spotted. The masks of a full blooded Pestis does not come off. They are also normally quite tall, averaging 182 to 198 cm (roughly 6 foot to 6 and a half).

Later generations seem to be developing mutations that make them much more monster like. Such as black tears, larger claws, more frightening appearance. They can also interbreed with almost any type of monster, but not person. Their height averagely stays on the high side, but not always. Some being seen short enough to be mistaken for children and others much taller.

Physiology (full blooded):

They get their nourishment from people who are diseased. This can range from anything from a cold to something more debilitating. They can only consume those with viral or bacterial illness; genetic and cancers (not caused by virus) do not feed them. They secrete a substance that is force fed into the victim, dissolving the insides. The victim is then cut open and the liquids are absorbed through the hands or bodies of the doctors. Some later generations can even metamorphose themselves to open up their bodies and eat the victim whole, later spitting out bones. They find it’s faster and safer. The amount of food they need can vary. some can go a year if they are not very active, others needing weekly if very active or pregnant.

When starving or under extreme stress, they become more gelatinous and gooey. They will become more aggressive and brazen to find a meal. If at a very weak stage, they can be fed by other doctors and nursed back to health. Those under stress may turn more fluid to conserve energy and recover and at times, use that form to escape danger.

They seem to be able to choose and switch genders. They carry both sets of reproductive organs but only one is active at a time. They normally carry the secondary sexual characteristics they choose, but not always, and they can change body shape at will, except when carrying an egg. The females will lay eggs after a three month gestation. Eggs hatch in a further three months and do not need incubation. The child, when born is very amorphous and akin to a grey blob. They must be fed diseased blood daily. Over the course of a year they become more solid and formed. Their robes and masks design not changing much after they solidify them. The children then age very rapidly and need less feeding. They become adults at ten years of age and then appear to stop aging physically. They always learn, no matter the age. They keep a telepathic bond with their mothers for fifty years, provided she’s within a 20 km (12 and a half mile) radius. This does not change if the mother changes genders.

Physiology (hybrid):

The most striking and common deformity when a hybrid is born and formed, they almost always have tentacles despite the fact neither parent had them. The only time they don’t is if bred with Immortal breed monsters (such as Dr. Miasma or Kismet) which already look much like Pestis given they were used to design the Pestis in the first place.

The physical needs do not change, however methods might. Not all hybrids can secrete the substance that liquify victims, so some take to eating whole living victims, or at times corpses that still have organic matter and still active bacteria. They often need more feeding or they can risk become more fluid. They must learn what works for them early on.

Their reproduction often remains the same. They stay egg layers if the female is the Pestis, but the development of the child may change. Taking longer or shorter, depending on the other parent. Hybrids all seem to keep the telepathic bond to age fifty signifying it comes from the Pestis mother rather then the child.

Common Weaknesses:

Both full blooded and hybrids are very weak to fire and extreme heat. Burning and starvation are the only known ways to kill them. Younger Pestis could easily be attacked by telepaths given their mind is more open to speak with their mothers.
