okay so basically

in society everyone just suddenly got powers, so order and society collapsed. this occurred maybe some 50-60 years ago? ideas i have what for the event was called are: Threnody, Nascence, Skyfall etc etc (workshopping this one still, i havent decided yeto

anyways many years later, people are trying to get society back together to become functional; but with a lack of formal government, theres no true laws; and now many factions are fighting to establish themselves as the governing force

theres currently 2 major factions (but theres many more too). aughex is in one of the major ones (“closed faction”), and zuruki is in the other opposing major faction ("open faction") **these faction names are placeholders

the way powers work, is that you are born with one ability and (by normal standards), cannot gain any new/different abilities——you are fixed with a single ability. however, you can still strengthen your ability, and once strong enough, your ability becomes significantly more versatile and capable of utilizing it to achieve higher level, more complex powers

also an idea i had for the sudden power-boom; maybe theres magic/power resurgences every long while, but it only happens with centuries between; thats why nobody remembers them
