Minor Settings
Miscellaneous settings outside of the "major" original setting I'm working on. Not chronologically connected to anything in particular and generally consist of smaller overall casts or looser worldbuilding.
The "for funsies" ones ^^

you are in a small town that overlooks the coast. the world has grown up around it, it would seem. perhaps it is the roads of dirt and cobble alone that lead in and out, quick to pass under notice. perhaps it is the lush greenery that flanks it, presses gently against the backs of the outermost homes in town. perhaps, even, it is by some supernatural force that this town of lazy days and mellow streets lies idle in the face of burgeoning industrialism.

Set in an idealized Miami, Florida. Occupies several time periods at once- a place of quarter arcades and monologuing detectives and aliens. Probably some kind of time pocket, might not even actually be in Florida.
The short version is: Monster people in the afterlife.
The longer version is: Postmortem, people enter a utopian society to reach spiritual fulfillment. Entities known as liches target newcomers, forming contacts with their souls and generally employing them for whatever purposes they need people in the afterlife for. This practice is considered wrong, if not outright criminal, and many liches are outcast from society.
It's worth noting that a lich does gain power from these contracts. Any afterlife spirit can become a lich, but cannot go back to being a regular spirit, and will die if they do not have that power source.
The average soul slowly develops an identity and physical form, based on very fuzzy memories of their life. When a soul has reached its perceived 'best self', it is considered complete and sent onward. Nobody in the afterlife knows where they go, but the are assured it's somewhere good.
Contracted souls, on the other hand, manifest a full form immediately- a byproduct of the power required to form the contract in the first place. A lack of postmortem identity means that these souls usually take on traits reminiscent of their deaths, or significant traumas from when they were alive.
On the outskirts of the afterlife, a lich by the name of Bain-Marie opens a restaurant. Naming it Soul Food is too easy, and she's always been one for classy-sounding things, so Os Compotée it is. She's not exactly welcome in the afterlife, but she's been around long enough her status as an elder precedes her status as a lich.
The employees? Her contracted souls, of course- Flambe, Chiffonade, and Mirepoix. Names courtesy of Miss Marie, of course, since new souls so rarely remember their own.
yadda yadda everything subject to change whenever i feel like it dont compare this to anything else or i'll bite you
In the High Infernal Plane reside the Cardinal Sins, a crew of demons chosen to represent each of their respective vices. From managing the great ledgers that catalogue deals with the devil to summoning succubi, all clerical work goes through the Sins and their legions.
There's just one problem.
