Lyssity's birth rattled Jeanie in a way she wasn't ready for and, as a result, she left Lyss in her father's care for roughly the first year of her life. It's now something Jeanie deeply regrets. She worries that Lyss doesn't love her as much because of it, even though she has no memories of that time. She never connected with Lyss over a shared interest like she did with Cassio.
In spite of what her mom thinks, Lyss doesn't care that she left her with her dad as a newborn. Unlike her brother, she can see through her mom's false confidence and honestly? She worries too much. She didn't see that growing up, though, and it was watching her mom's apparent fearlessness that inspired Lyss to be the same way. Her mom's personality and her's just...don't always mesh well outside of that. Jeanie's a little too soft and Lyss is a little too sharp, but Lyss likes to think she and her mom balance each other out.
She's bubbly and superfluous and too materialistic--but he admires her gentle heart. Plus, she's the only mama he's ever had. He also appreciates that a lot of people have always held certain stereotypes about her that she (seems to) gives zero fucks about, whether she fits them or not. Cassio wishes he could be more like her.
Jeanie always loved adopting little creatures growing up and Cassio is pretty much the epitome of that. She married a hot rich dude and gOT A CUTE LITTLE BABY SCIENCE BOY WITH HIM, WOO. Make no mistake, Cassio is HER baby. She teases him with comments about how he inherited this or that from her or how she carried him for nine months because he ALWAYS argues and it's ALWAYS funny. She thinks he's just precious and needs to be snuggled and loved on forever.
Met Leandros in flight school at a Jietal colony. They caused a lot of trouble together, as only the best of friends do. When they graduated and Frey got her ship as a gift from her parents, Leandros was the only person she could imagine inviting on board as her copilot (and, by proxy, her roommate). She's not sure how to take his flirtatious advances since romance isn't really a thing she DOES, but she gets a kick out of them regardless. Also, it's really helpful to have someone who loves taking pictures when you love to travel and run what is essentially a photo-based travel diary online.
Knew about dainties mostly because of how widespread they are, but Frey was the first one (*cough*) he actually talked to. Met her in flight school in prep to become transport pilots and immediately took a liking to her adventurous nature. Their instructors were glad to see them graduate for more than one reason, let's leave it at that. Leandros didn't have any big ambitions, so he was happy to take Frey up on her offer and travel the universe with her. Part of him is conflicted--he thinks he might feel more for Frey than he'd like to let on, but she isn't one for romance. It hasn't kept him from looking for love (or just a good time) elsewhere, however, so he's keen to just keep it to himself for the foreseeable future.
