The Sundering

In an age no one can remember, some of the land was ripped up out of the earth to form islands in the sky, while most of the rest was smashed into the sea. This event became known as the Sundering, and no one knows what caused it.

The present of the story is set in a sort of steampunk period with airships flying between the floating islands, while the islands of the oceans are generally seen as curiosities, though a few people live on them.

Joseph Rain is an archaeologist who was part of an expedition to a drowned civilisation where they hope to uncover the cause of the Sundering who just wants to get home to his husband. Riley Caswell is the sky pirate captain who blows his ship to pieces and steals all of their finds. Lewis Spencer is an officer of the law dedicated to hunting down these pirates and ridding the skies of them. He drags Joseph along with him to deal with the artefacts once they finally recover them.

All three are hunted by a shadowy organisation who are determined to keep the secrets of the Sundering drowned forever.
