Summary:
"All living things must die" is the condition under which The Sun's Reach was created. Mugwort, a devout follower of Diurne, firmly believes in this stance. His life, as he knows it, is cut short when he is attacked by a blooddrinker: a being who cheats death and preys on the living. Having become the very thing he despises, Mug develops an intense self-loathing... but that all begins to change when he saves a dying man with a mysterious fire blazing from his chest.
