hanabiko and chōhiki are friends. they meet at the psychiatric unit, although chōhiki initially finds hanabiko a little off-putting. they have some things in common, and chōhiki plays off of her energy rather well, especially when both of them are around kaede. they remain friends after they're both discharged.

shimada is chōhiki's psychiatrist. they also perform therapy. he loves talking to them and enjoys every appointment he has with them. he's immensely grateful for the work they've done for him and the recovery they helped him reach towards. chōhiki trusts shimada quite a lot and they've made him happy to work on himself.
