POSTING THE NOTES/CONVERSATION WITH FAIRSUN BECAUSE I'M DELETING THE COLOR-EDITED PIC, BUT IT'S GOOD INFO: FairSunToday at 11:47 AM I see here not really good chosen colors, they don't create good palette and so her design looks like mess little bit Okay, let's say that we can't change grey (because it is part of armor from metal?) and green (her clan) If you want red in her design, I would choose one bright red and make it as an accent (myabe scarf on her neck) If that green stuff should represent pattern for clan, you better draw it on other image (to full idea of it) and then base everything on it as main pattern in her outfit sorry, not clan, patrons PelicanToday at 11:56 AM That makes sense. The red cape was a leftover of an old concept that I never really edited as I drew her, and I agree that is one of the big things throwing her design off. I want some contrast, but red, especially in that shade and location, is not the color for that. I've been trying to find a good palette, that was my biggest struggle after drawing the face. I think I'm going to go a lot more into the greens and pale blues, add some silvers to go with her patrons' themes, be more prominent on her redesign. What do you think a better contrasting color or shade would be? Would an oranger red or purpler red look better, or do you think I should scrap the red and use another color? Hey, I got you FairSunToday at 12:01 PM I think it depends on what exactly blues and greens you choose But... Maybe I would go to yellow, pale yellow that close to color on her sleeve That isn't accent, but if you do greens and blues darken, it way work as accent on contrast That's good that we figured out where that red came from! It's good to develop character Do you mind if I try to overcolor your concept? Just to figure it out for myself PelicanToday at 12:06 PM Hmm, I never considered yellows, but I think that would look real nice, I'll give it a try! I think I'm going to go for dark bluish greens and lighter blue blues, but I'm not quite sure how I'll make that work yet. She's working for a moon goddess and a giant squid, and my mind kinda went to a night sky/midnight zone sort of theme later on, and I'm thinking of going more in that direction with the next design. Yeah, go ahead! FairSunToday at 12:08 PM Just choose one light blue and use multiply layer
It is not much better, but now it fits somehow on my opinion It's okay if you don't like it PelicanToday at 12:10 PM Oooh, I like that a whole lot, it's a simple color change, but it really does wonders Nono, I really like it, thank you for doing that, I see what you're talking about, and it fits really well FairSunToday at 12:11 PM I used Magic Wand Tool now... Can you tell me what it is on her torso? under greens PelicanToday at 12:11 PM Magic wand selection is a magical thing FairSunToday at 12:11 PM x) PelicanToday at 12:12 PM I wasn't entirely sure myself as I drew it, but it's more scale mail armor, the functional pieces of it. I have a picture of it where it's more clear, give me a second After I decided to make it scale mail
Ignore my inexperience at human anatomy and chibi stuff FairSunToday at 12:14 PM Now I look at it... and I want to find a reflection in design for this sword... and this red fits for the sword, but not for greens, urgh Is it essential on which hand she has mark of her divine? Because if it's not I would like to change arms PelicanToday at 12:15 PM I think the blues fit with the sword too, I don't have much of a lore reason to have red on her design at all FairSunToday at 12:15 PM then fuck red PelicanToday at 12:16 PM It does not matter, but she usually fights with her right and hold her sheild on the left FairSunToday at 12:16 PM So it is more essential that her hand with sword would be protected because hand with sheild has sheild PelicanToday at 12:16 PM She already has the holy symbol on the top piece though, so I would be alright just removing the sutff on the sleeve FairSunToday at 12:16 PM shield? PelicanToday at 12:17 PM That's true, I was thinking about mobility on the sword arm, but I think you're right about protecting the sword arm I misunderstood what you typed. I forget what backstory I gave for it exactly, but it's transparent, made of glass, it crumples like a car windsheild instead of shattering so that she can use her mending cantrip on it She uses magic like 99% of the time though I'll flip the armor around FairSunToday at 12:21 PM that's too dark, maybe...
PelicanToday at 12:21 PM I was switching between dark and light colored pants, I like how the dark colored pants look here though! I should lighten the color of her belt too
