the weasel, the cat, the land under

Weasel and Cat fall into a lake one night, on a new moon when the sky and the lake were indistinguishable from eachother. Instead of hitting the water, they seemed to pass through a portal to a world like their own; except set back hundreds of years, and each of the inhabitants were near-unique hybrids of the animals they used to know. 

Almost immediately, the two were accosted by Mantisune, who, in her odd manner, insisted she take them around the land. They met Quokkamole, a farmer, and Lambdag, an alchemist.

Lambdag and Quokkamole agree to home the two newcomers and tell them the story of their land; Entirely populated by hybrids, two same-animal hybrids meeting is incredibly rare, and even more for them to look the same. For example, Mantisune is the only mantis/kitsune hybrid they've met, but another mantis/kitsune hybrid might go by Kitsantis and have more mantis-like features.

They explain that the land is ruled by three rabbit-based hybrids; Jackalope, Skvader, and Wolpertinger- hybrids of a rabbit and a deer, rabbit and a wood grouse, and rabbit and a deer, pheasant, and squirrel, respectively. Wolpertinger was the leader of the two, on account of being a unique hybrid of four different animals. Weasel asked how corrupt they were as rulers, for they did not trust rulers at all, and Lambdag responded that they were remarkably impartial. They're referred to as "The Rabbit Rulers" in short conversation.

Lambdag continued to explain that he was funded by the Rulers, but they had no influence on his research. 

Stuck in this "Land Under", Weasel and Cat feel remarkably protagonistic. Cat seeks a new home, and Weasel seeks influence and an exit.
