"Out of the two scientists I think Prof. Hassan is one of the more intimidating, I'm not sure how Quavers does it working under him, but it seems like hes holding up fine for now at least. I can tell he is very dedicated to his work and I can respect that, I hope I can get to know more about what he does as time goes by."
"I've seen the young lad work with Dmitri, he seems much more collected compared to my apprentice. Though, from how Young Mister Quavers speak of Alvaro, I could believe these two are cut from the same cloth..." Hassan folds his arms, "They keep each other safe in expeditions... he's a good lad, that Alvaro."
"Professor Hassan, the guy who employed me and saved me from the pits of Vian Prison. I can't thank him enough for helping me get out of being vian food... BUT MUST HE MAKE ME RUN AROUND LIKE AN ERRAND BOY SO OFTEN? Can't he see I have tiny legs!!"
"I think it's wrong of us, as Elyvians, to devour the innocent just for our survival. There must be a way to sustain life without harming others. I have collected the vespire child and take him under my wing as my apprentice. This would allow him to live. He is surprisingly agile, and while he cannot traverse the dessert as well as we Elyvians do, he is able to detect and do magic in ways we Elyvians cannot. Perhaps... he may help make a pathway to allow Elyvians be integrated with other societies..."
"Prof. Dmitri is a real delight! I believe Alvaro works under him? I work under Prof. Hassan, he's got me running around doing so many errands UUGHHHH!! Dmitri looks so fun and cheery and he cracks jokes... ONE TIME!! HE GAVE ME A SUSPICIOUS LOOKING THING!! AND IT SMELLED SWEET!! Prof. Hassan took it from me before I could drink it tho >:T"
"Quavers is not the brightest when it comes to the world of science but what he lacks in that area he absolutely makes up for in his survival skills. I have never seen someone as desert smart as this Vespire, if he wanted he could map the entirety of the Brouzet in the middle of a sandstorm, Blindfolded!! That being said I do want to test his survivability, I'm sure Hassan wouldn't mind too much if I were to deviate a little bit of my research to study his helpers quirks, nothing that would hurt him of course but just a little something to test his abilities."
"Hassan! Yes! a fine and outstanding scientist here in Stormbridger's Academy perhaps even one of the best! His research on the storms has helped me out more times than I can count! That drive to create and protect is something that I am very happy to see in a partner. His research will surely help me find a connection to those pesky Fugalisk that keep muddling up our data as well as pinpoint the connections of the storm and glass river." With a small laugh he continues "Its also nice to see him worry about my antics, as dangerous as it is my stomach is made for science failed or not!"
"My fellow partner in the Strombridger's Academy of Science. A wonderful professor to the students and a partner in my research on the storms. His studies in the chemical reactions and its connections with the storm and glass river has helped the capital in sustaining a protective shield for us against the storm. I could not be more proud and honoured to be called his partner and lifelong friend."
A long pause before a glass crashing is heard in the background. "Now if he could kindly stop eating the beakers...."
"Kid's got a lotta work out for them. Their bread may be a little too dry sometimes, but I can see they're tryna work on makin' it better. Sometime's I think I'm a little to harsh on the feller but I ain't gonna sugarcoat reality. So if the kid actually makes decent bread? Well, I'll be lookin' real forward to that."
Pao is very honest, but I really appreciate it. I'd rather have honesty about how my stuff tastes than kind lies. I think that both of the twins are more talented than me, but I hope to learn from them and I genuinely don't mind the critiques on my pastries.
Cappucino tosses his mane. "Their pastry needs a lot of work, though I don't have much to say. I suppose my sister would ramble her thoughts till the poor thing can't hear no more Ohohoho! I'm sure if their little pasty shop works out, we can always order from Sundae if my sister feels too out of it to work, though she would never admit such a defeat to order out our pastries from other places."
Cappucino can be a bit smug, but I think that someone who is talented in their craft has a right to it. I think that both of the twins are more talented than me, but I hope to learn from them and I genuinely don't mind the critiques on my pastries.
This guy! Urgh... I get that I came from a nowhere town and am from a nobody family, but... that doesn't mean that he's better than me! Or that he gets to be rude to me!!!
(sigh). Deep down, I get it, though. I have the same thoughts about myself. It just always hurts more to hear someone else say them out loud. Before everything, maybe I would've challenged him, called him my rival. Maybe if I won a spar I could show him.
These days... what does it matter? It's true. If I hadn't been healed, I would've been lost to the corruption. And no one would've missed me, because I'm a nobody from nowhere.
I've rambled for far too long. He's an impressive knight with an impressive background. I'm sure he'll be a great royal knight.
"Tch, Hutao? More like WHO CARES? HAHA am I right?" he puffs up his chest. "I don't have time to meddle with the common folk and this little bloom has the audacity to talk to me? Does she know who I am?"
"I have a family lineage to take over. I have to be the greatest knight and I WILL be the greatest royal knight. To appease my father and his fathers before him. What does a commoner like her know about greatness?"
Virgil is a friend I made early on at the Obrille Knight Academy. He was always a bit more reserved in social situations, I got the feeling that he was here to become a knight and it didn't really matter if he made friends or not. I did try, though, and we sparred sometimes. After my corruption though, it became hard to reach out to him all the time. I think we're on fine terms, we just don't talk anymore...
"Hutao is a wonderful student and sparring partner. It is clear that she wants to make a lasting impact in the world. A bit naive if I have to say. But her eyes shine so brightly when she talks about it. Alas, our ideals do not align, her goals too much a fantasy for me to believe. While I wish to stay honest and true, it feels cruel to diminish such innocence. While we may walk different paths, I can only wish she is able to reach her goals."
"We met in the prisons of the Elyvian capital. Heh, who knew you could find friends in such odd places? One day you're in the slums and next thing you know you're working with the Elyvian scientists to make sure you're not bird food HAHA! ... Life sure is odd that way, don't you say, ol' friend?"
"It sure is, never thought my indulgent excursion into the desert would lead to where we are now. It's taken us into a very interesting situation that has opened my world to new possibilities... even if our lives are on the line in a way, hope the scientists like our work enough to keep us around. Of course I can't thank you enough for helping me through those first few days here, it was tough but we are together for the betterment of our survival and research."
"A great student, she's fantastic really. Not only that, having a student who could shapeshift with you is great. I can see great things in her."
"I never expected that one of my previous clients would have ended up here in the knights academy to be my student. I'm surprised and oddly flattered?"
"Seeing how much effort she put into her work inspired me to continue my path to becoming a knight, hopefully I can make some sort of change if I work hard enough myself."
My life seems to stop in time when we cross paths..I seem to be favoring it almost as much as I do baking. Hmm, I wonder what’s in store the next time we meet~
"I've met her every now and then. We usually just sit in peace. It's... nice actually. To just have someone who's presence feels this calming. Maybe I should invite her to the school's bake fest next time?"
