The Isles

Fantasy Drama Romance NOT a dating sim

Once a group of warring kingdoms, this archipelago of 6 major island-states, plus the nearby ocean have now united in a confederacy. Although little to no ill will remains, they maintain their alliance by performing a once-in-a-generation marriage ceremony.

Each isle chooses a representative from their kingdom to send to the central isle: the kingdom that unites them all together. Their first duty is to act as diplomats, strengthening the bond between kingdoms. Their second is to act as suitors for the heir to the high throne. By the end of the year-long visit, a marriage is expected and anticipated.

However, in a universe with cellphones, teleportation, and other high-tech stuff, this custom feels highly outdated to everyone (even the heir themself). It's the year 831 AE, a time when inter-galactic trade and communication has reached heights never-before seen. Surely this sort of system has no place in such a world?
