"CRAWFORD!!!!!" Temra shouts with a fiery passion, as she usually does. "What an opponent! Our rivalry is sure to be passed on from generation to generation!!! TEMPURA! stands right across from Fish Hook, AS IT SHOULD! No one else would be worthy of such equal grounds with THE Temra Tempura! HAHA!"
[ FRIENDLY RIVAL ] “Every summer I run a stall for The Kitchen and every summer, Temra’s gotta turn it into a cookoff. Which is totally fine by me, haha! I love a little restaurant rivalry. And Temra’s so sweet about it. Don’t get me wrong, she’s hella competitive, but after she crushes me, she give me some cooking tips. Love learning new things from frenemies, haha.”
"JESSE!" Temra lets out a strong, hearty laugh. "What fun competition he is! Sometimes I almost feel bad with how strongly I crush the game!"
She then crosses her arms and gives a small nod. "My amazing grilling skills aside, he's a wonderful friend! Good company to have around! Maybe we can go club hopping together sometime soon!"
"Ah, Gene? Such a nice little fellow, truly! A bit shy, but who isn't at such a young age, yes?" Lorenzo flips a paper over and seems to write something, then circle it. "Aces in his studies, and a very well-behaved student. Not that I wouldn't like him if he wasn't. It's normal for kids to act out sometimes, but he never really does. I'm proud of him for that."
Lorenzo looks up from his paper as he continues, a gentle, cheerful tone taking over his voice. "The only issues we have is when they accidentally trip or get into a mess while digging around. But that's no big deal, is it? It's important to let youth live a little, explore the world around them...Ah, to be young again..."
"Crawford, Crawford..." Lorenzo taps his pen on his chin. "...Ah! Right! The one who owns Fish Hook, yes? A hard-working fellow from what I've seen. He does his job well. I don't visit that often but I do like to treat myself to a nice dinner every once in a while there. As far as I am able to tell, he is good company, yes yes."
"A *bounty hunter*?' Masashi leans back and rolls his head as if he's rolling his eyes- his metaphorical ones, that is. "Great. More competition. Listen, as long as they stay out of my way, I'll stay out of theirs. If they test my patience, it's over for them."
[ NEUTRAL ]
A mercenary? As a bounty hunter, are they my ally or foe?
Don't really talk to them outside if work, he's really good at his job. But to be honest that about as much as my knowledge of him goes.
Looking forward to working with him more
"Delmar?" Masashi waves his hand dismissively. "He pays well. That's all I care about. As long he doesn't try to indoctrinate me into his little gang he has going on, he's fine."
"...Masashi..." Syouki suddenly pauses at the mention of the name. His body tenses momentarily- a very subtle change given his usual stoic demeanor. They then lower their head and continue their work. They say no more.
"Syouki. Been a while since I've heard that name." Masashi speaks so apathetically despite what he implies is a personal connection. He continues to talk with his hairband in his mouth while he tidies his hair. "Pretty sure they think I'm dead. I'd prefer it to stay that way."
After he puts his hair up, he lets out a soft yet toneless sigh. "Say a word to him and you're just as dead as I am to him."
"Masashi? Never heard of- Ah, wait. I think I heard the name pop up from Syouki while he was talking to someone. Didn't hear much besides that. Must be a friend of Syouki's I assume. I think I'll ask Syouki about this person after this shift. Why would Syouki hide potential customers from me?"
"Crawford... He runs the Fish Hook- the place where Syouki works, I think." Masashi shrugs and idly twirls his harpoon. "Wonder if they've told him about me. Knowing them, probably not. But still a good idea to stay out of their way."
Masashi taps the tip of his harpoon. "Don't wanna turn his only friend into crab meat, ya know."
"Another customer. Usually how I meet people like him- a con to this kind of work. Seafaring jobs naturally have a lot of pull to other Sea-idiots. Occupational hazard." 35% shuffles through a deck of cards as he talks, the idle shhhfft of laminated paper barely audible under the rowdy rumble of the bar. "That one's fine, though- Syouki. Chef at the Fish Hook a couple blocks down from here, you know. The place isn't really my scene, but work'll take you just about anywhere."
"35%. I do business with him sometimes. Good fisherman, much better than I am. So it makes my job a lot easier. I appreciate what he does. Glad he's open to trading with me."
"It's Syouki. He's the sushi chef here at Fish Hook. Syouki has been with me a long time, and they're very hardworking. I'm very indebted to all he's done for me and the restaurant. If I die, I would surely intrust Fish Hook to Syouki. I don't think I tell Syouki enough how much I appreciate them, but that's okay. I like the way things are now, and I wouldn't be able to continue this dream of mine without Syouki by my side."
"Crawford. He's dedicated to the job. Don't think a lot of people realize how passionate he is about it. But I can tell." There's a small pause as Syouki slices the flesh off of a tuna fish. "'-Cause I have the same drive. It's nice to see."
Syouki suddenly halts all motion. He stares down at his prep work and his hands. "Makes working here feel cozier than it already does. I hope he knows I appreciate what he's done for both the restaurant and for me."
Natas thinks Aurelius is amusing, aer overly formal personality often clashes with his own casual demeanor in a way that creates a humorous dynamic in his eyes. He often makes sarcastic jokes knowing it'll go over aer head and aer cluelessness overall is something he has fun with. He never takes these jokes too far though as he does genuinely care for aem like a friend, even if he doesn't admit it.
Aurelius sees Natas as a comrade, despite their differences and competitive work against each other. He stays polite and optimistic, but still scolds Natas whenever ae thinks he's doing something wrong for their human like encouraging them to indulge in unproductive habits. Otherwise they always work together to ensure a good life for their human and have a much more positive relationship than what people would expect,
