Revamping worlds.......

Posted 3 months, 3 days ago by keirajo

Hi all!   I have an actual TH gallery-related journal for you today.

Some people, whom I've known since around 2012 when I joined Fur Affinity (and left said site in 2015 because of harassment and bullying) may know that I've got a lot of furry-themed worlds which have grown about based on stories that I've written.   While I've never posted fiction here on this site, many of my folders that say "world" in the name are from works I've done in the past and have generally wrapped up.   I still draw characters from them on occasion, because I like them and I enjoyed writing their stories.  So, in a way, most of these are "closed worlds"--where nothing new has been happening with them, but artwork may still be made of these characters.

More recently, I've created new characters based on simply doodles I loved and developed into characters--but they have no particular existence beyond that.   But I feel bad that they have no stories of their own and no real backgrounds beyond what I make up on the fly about them.

Also, I have some adopted/gift characters who are also in the same boat.........they're floating back there somewhere, but I still draw them often because I always treasure my characters I've gotten from others.

So, I'm working on a way to merge worlds--where they have a similar enough base setting to maybe have developed from a "Crisis on Infinite Earths" (if you understand the old DC Comics references).   Two of the major worlds that will become the structure for this will be my "World of Avatars" and the world comprising my "Shin Unmei Sentai Juuranger"/"Shin Unmei Densetsu Juuranger Supreme" worlds.   You'll also see some of my adopts and OCs get absorbed into this new "merged universe" and get to watch it change and evolve.   :)

Soon, I'll be posting more about this universe and change around some folders to reflect the new universe.   :)

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Today is my last day of work for a long holiday weekend--I won't be back to work (and wi-fi) until next Tuesday, December 26th and the weekend after that will be the same where I'll be off on that Friday as my last day before the holiday weekend and returning on January 2nd.   So, I'll be offline from Toyhou.se until then.   Someday, I have got to get this site set up on my iPad..........   *laughs*

I hope everyone will have a wonderful and peaceful holiday season!   Take care and enjoy the warmth of the holidays!   :)

Offline and Returning

Posted 4 months, 25 days ago by keirajo

My apologies that I have been absent for awhile--perhaps three weeks at this point.  (I honestly expected more picture uploads in my inbox than less than 100......there are times when I get more than 100 over a weekend!   XD)   This was something I had no control over, as...........well, my laptop got hit with malware.  I was unable to open my anti-virus program whatsoever and without that I was going NOWHERE NEAR the internet.  I tried using my anti-virus' malware cleaner, which seemed to work for about two days before I was unable to open my anti-virus again.   So, I was suspecting a really tenacious bit of malware.   The thing was, if I wasn't able to open or run my anti-virus, I would never have known anything was wrong--everything else about my computer seemed to be running just as normally as ever.   But without an anti-virus protecting me--who knows what would happen if I tried to go on the internet.   It was better to be safe than sorry.

After struggling with finances and everything else in my life right now in the holiday season (most of which nonsense has been beyond my control), I took it to a professional computer place.   They did a scan and stuff and said that it would be best to simply replace my hard drive entirely.   Honestly, it was only about $30 more than the tune up thing, so I'm like, okay..........sure.   So, my laptop was in the shop for a week.   They replaced my current hard drive with something called a solid state drive--I don't know much of the difference, but as long as I do consistent backups, it won't be a problem.   As much as I understand is that if an SSD goes, you can't recover from it, where a normal HDD you can sometimes salvage from the drive, even if the computer won't work anymore (which is what happened with my previous laptop--they had to salvage from my hard drive, even though the computer would no longer power on).   I do tend to do weekly or bi-weekly backups to a separate drive, so I usually keep up on things that way.   In the end, I am thinking of the future of my computers and what I will do when this one goes--although with a brand-new hard drive, it should last a few more years.   In the end, a little over $200 is probably a better deal than $700-1000 for replacing a computer entirely.   *shrug*

While offline, I worked on some drawing in the more traditional manner.   Revamping or redeveloping some of my worlds--so you may see some characters' folder changes here on Toyhou.se in the near future.   I also did a lot of grinding on video games--I've been playing "Digimon Survive", which is an interesting hybrid of visual novel and tactical RPG.   It's quite a dark storyline, which I really wasn't expecting--since I kept myself in the dark on the game itself, in order to enjoy it more when I played it.   I will probably do a NG+ playthrough, to see if I can save everyone, since you CANNOT save everyone the first time around.

I hope everyone has been well and taking care of themselves.   I hope you're all getting ready for the holiday season and will be able to enjoy it with the people you love.   Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year, because it's all about giving presents to people, which I love to do all year round.  :)

Offline and Happy Holidays!

Hello, all!

My apologies for being gone last week--I meant to post a message before my vacation, but with being at home (or appointments), I'm not able to get online with my laptop to check this particular site.   Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand...........I don't remember my password to try and access it on my iPad via cellular.   *laughs*   Sorry for being so technologically incompetent!    With this being a short work week, as well, I'll be offline for a good portion of this particular week as well.   When we get closer to the end of December and the myriad of days off from work there as well--let's just say my attendance will be spotty in December, too.

I did get a small bit of art done last week, while I was off and at home..........a couple of finished things, but mostly got some linearts that need finishing up and all.

For those who celebrate Thanksgiving--I hope that you have a wonderful holiday with family and/or other loved ones.  Take care of yourselves and be happy.   :D

Ha-ha...........something brief today.   I hope all of you who got a long weekend from week or school (in the U.S.) got to enjoy something relaxing, did something fun or any of the above.

Me, I got food poisoning and I was miserable all day on Monday and had to call in sick to work on Tuesday--isn't that just fantastic?   *laughs*   Even today, it still feels like somebody punched me in the gut and like I'm all bruised up (except I'm not--just that my sides are THAT tender)...........and really, I wish I didn't have to eat food ever again.   :<    I'm too old for this nonsense, I should just start eating porridge for the rest of my life, like old people are supposed to............maybe when I actually hit 50 next year?   :p

There's a lot to catch up on, it might take me a couple of days--I'll maybe have stuff to post by the end of the week.   I've got a lot of lineart done for many illustrations of many of my characters, I just have to decide if I will color them before I post or not.   October is coming up before we know it and I'm really hoping to try and participate this year, but I'm trying to find a personal theme for my Inktober projects.   :)

Stay safe, everyone!

My odd PSA for today--for everyone that I consider friends and acquaintances........and everyone else who is a living being.

Across the world, temperatures are rising at alarming rates.   In the area which I live, we are setting record high temperatures today and tomorrow--with virtually no relief in sight until later in the weekend.   There are so many areas that are experiencing this right now--I've never seen a weather map for heat be PURPLE in my area before (purple is the worst of high temperatures--then it's dark red, red, orange and yellow as it scales downwards in highs).

If you MUST be outside for any reason right now--please be safe, take water with you.   TAKE AN UMBRELLA WITH YOU FOR SHADE--EVEN IF IT'S NOT RAINING AND NO MATTER HOW SILLY YOU MAY FEEL.   If you've got ice packs and the like, drape them around your neck when you go out or even put them on top of your head--heck, if you wear a hat, put a small icepack underneath your hat!!!

In heat like this--don't grab an iced coffee, frappuchino or soda/pop/carbonated beverage to take with you.  Do not ever convince yourself, because it's iced, it's okay.   Caffeine, sugar and carbonation DO NOT keep you hydrated--they actually are detrimental to remaining hydrated in conditions of extreme heat.   Take water, take ICE WATER...........or take the beverages that help you stay hydrated.   There are many, from the world well-known Gatorade to newer sports drinks like BodyArmor.   I highly recommend BodyArmor myself--I don't feel it has the aftertaste that Gatorade suffers from, it is made with coconut water (which is healthy for the body and is a natural hydrator)...........it has many different flavors for all people's tastes and it has a low sugar alternative version, to help more with hydration.  But there are other similar alternatives sold throughout the world.   And if you can't get any of those--just get yourself some water and keep that handy at all times.

Please, everyone--be careful and be safe if you have to go outdoors right now, for any reason at all.

B-day/off for the weekend!

As of today--I hit the near-50 (but not quite) mark!   I'm off for the weekend--and, therefore, offline for the weekend.   Dunno what I'll do yet, but I'll figure it out!   XD

I hope everyone has a nice, relaxing weekend!   :D

Hello All!

Posted 10 months, 20 days ago by keirajo

I've been busy and behind with a lot of things lately.    I've also been offline a lot more than I have planned to be.   Without access to internet (in general) when I'm not scheduled to be at work..............vacations have generally been "offline time" for me.   I recently spent a week at my sister's, babysitting her cat.  I do mean babysitting, as he's very needy for human company.   *laughs*

I just saw "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" this past weekend.   I'll score it higher than most of the Michael Bay films.   While I could nitpick a lot of things--I believe it's going in the right direction, with a better balance of focus on the ROBOTS as well as the humans.   Robots with colors and unique design recognition is also a step in the right direction--though it would be nice if they'd throw, out at least in passing, the names of characters in the films.   Bad guys apparently still don't get introductions........so, I feel pretty sorry for the Terrorcons like Nightbird.   :p    And a lot less of the juvenile humour is very much appreciated--I don't need a "potty joke" to enjoy a film and I don't think it's necessary no matter what age you are.   The ending poses a good meaty chunk of possible movie crossover nonsense that we'll have to see if Hasbro has the guts to go with that or not.   I still hope, that one day, Hasbro will break away from the "Bayverse" for the live-action films and work on creating a new universe that fans and moviegoers can live with...........frankly, the Bayverse is too old now--and the lack of character development/focus on non-stop action is an exhausting thing.   That having been said, it will be interesting to see how the upcoming "Transformers ONE" will go, if it truly will be released in the theaters or if Hasbro will wimp out at the last minute and go straight to DVD/streaming with this animated feature.

I have a handful of new characters to upload full things for, but right now I'm going to upload the pages for the two I have developed out--but only with prototype icons.   I haven't had any chance to do digital coloring in a long time..........so most things I've done lately have been all hand-drawn and hand-colored.

I hope everyone's doing well and is having a good summer so far!   :D

Offline for a short time!

Posted 1 year, 20 hours ago by keirajo

I'll need to go through and delete some older bulletins pretty soon.   Just a heads up that I'll be offline until May 10th, starting when I leave work this afternoon.   I'll still be checking Weasyl on my phone, but I won't be able to respond to anything or view anything at Toyhou.se until I return.   :)    I have a few annual exams to get done and it seemed silly to take like every other day off of work--I just took an entire week, in order to encompass my appointments.   Hopefully I can finish up the details and icons of new OCs and characters to post when I come back--and new artwork of existing characters.   :D

Small PSA moment...........

Whenever you post anything on the internet--you'll never get 100% favorable input on what you do.   With A.I. out there now, too--it can be difficult to figure out if you're simply getting comments from a rude or cruel human being, or if you're getting an A.I. bot trying to pretend to be a human by being rude and mean.   On sites where you can do so, blocking is the best thing you can do to remedy this situation.   Reporting is another.

However, what do you do on a site that allows "Anonymous" (non-registered users) commentary?   Anons are not registered users with the site--they can insert a name, but many are simply listed as "Anonymous" or use some symbol, you're not really allowed to be "a blank" on AO3.   I've been suffering with someone who either doesn't understand that people don't live their lives on the internet (I cannot instantly answer your questions and I do not haunt my AO3 account 24/7) or may be an A.I. trying to pose as human.   I can tell by their broken wording, they are either someone probably too young to be reading my fan-fiction or have mental issues I cannot possibly deal with by writing my fan-fiction.   In my world, if you don't like the work or the simple answer to your question I have provided--please go ahead and read or comment on someone else's work.   Maybe you'll like them better?   But, when overnight, I clearly MUST NOT HAVE answered the same question THAT I DID answer yesterday--the whole 12 more times they posted the question...........the last comment was "You should go and kill yourself."   WHO LEAVES A COMMENT LIKE THAT?   WHAT SANE HUMAN BEING DOES THAT WHEN THEY ARE UNHAPPY AT READING A WORK OF FAN-FICTION?   Is fan-fiction even worth your time if your mental attitude comes to that..........?   @_@

Honestly.   Because they're anon and don't have an account, there's no real way to report them, nor to block them--so, I simply deleted every string of their questions and comments from the work.   In fact, there was no way to block them, since every time they did leave a comment, they left a different name or symbol as the user each time they commented their same question--which I answered THE ONCE.  Because they're not registered, either--they don't get comment notifications (as I do, as a registered user)..........which is why they were haunting my page, waiting for answers, I assume.   I am certain, once they realize comments were removed, they'll post more and I'll have to keep removing them, which is easy enough.   But it seems silly to waste your life doing THIS if my work of fan-fiction makes you so angry and unhappy, you know?   I'm sorry my particular Transformers pairing doesn't suit your interests, please use AO3's searchbar to find a work of fan-fiction that DOES suit your pairing interests.........    *sigh*

People should act like human beings.   We'd be in a happier world.   :)

Offline for a long weekend!

Posted 1 year, 26 days ago by keirajo

Howdy folks!

For some people, this is a [religious] holiday weekend--so I wish you all the best.   Have a safe and happy Easter and all of that!   :)

As I don't have access to the internet beyond my phone and I don't have my TH on my phone, I won't return to being online here at TH until I return to work (and wi-fi) next Wednesday.   I have Monday and Tuesday off for general doctors' appointments with my various specialists, plus the holiday days of the weekend when the Library is closed.   If I receive messages or comments, I'll return and answer them then.   Until next week, be happy and take care!   :D
