Eclipse Facility
Lore for the Eclipse, and Pneuma Matter:
Research facility founded by Riann Witlock after his discovery and fusion with the last member of a thought to be long extinct symbiotic species(yet to be named), for the purpose of investigating the unique element known as "Pneuma Matter", or Soul Matter.
Pneuma Matter, when introduced to a new host via direct source (Riann himself, or the hidden tomb of the Unsung), acts as an irreversible "infection" that gives the subject abilities that correlate directly to their soul. For most, at base level, it can be manipulated to form weapons or temporary armor, but abilities beyond that are unique to each individual, and rarely overlap, though it is possible. It is not contagious, and the process of infection is a deliberate ritual that has a chance to be fatal.
Due to the possible danger of the ritual or reactions to it, the secrecy of the existence of the element, and ethically frowned upon use as living weapons, subjects are not allowed to leave the facility unless trusted to perform a mission.
[If a character has a subject designation (ex: X-13, L0-5), they have use of Pneuma Matter. The only exception is Riann/Nefando.]
