About THIS PAGE
All of my characters live in an alternate world where wasteland has taken over so much of it, that the majority of the population have resided in cities all spread apart. Everyone lives in fear of the wasteland, but someone is determined to change their minds.
The working title of my story is Resetting.
The Story primarily takes place in the city of Evelow, although it can be taken to the wasteland and the people and creatures amongst it.
Includes Witches, called 'hosts', a ragtag team of losers, pirates, an evil council, and a mysterious science experiment to be the answer to the world's problems.

hey it's been a while since I last shared a worldbuilding segment ! Anyway, I wanted to talk about some of the punishments Evelow goes through with when it comes to crimes. I had written instances of characters facing "jail time" but I'm reworking it so that Evelow doesn't do punishments through imprisonment. I figured they'd have alternative ideas...
Evelow is a city that's both prideful of itself and composed of people who care too much about how they're seen and the reputations they leave behind. So I figured their punishments would be representative of that.
- minor crimes, i.e. stealing, trespassing, etc. are dealt with by publicly shaming the individual. Publicly broadcasting the person on signs temporarily can be pretty humiliating, *but* can backfire if the crime someone did was respected by those around them.
- Evelow used to have other methods such as the perpetrator wearing an article of clothing in public that displayed their crime, but this isn't really a thing by the time of my story's events. Evelow is too big to ensure individuals are wearing the "hat of shame" (let alone enticing them to leave their homes for the period in which they have to wear it.) but still a fun fact and representative of how Evelow is lol
- bigger crimes are punished via banishment or exile. This may not sound too bad, especially with temporary exiles in which the person only has to stay out of Evelow for a certain period of time. However, lots of desert and harsh environments surround the city, and with the tales Evelonians are told of the wastelands, there's a built-in fear of the world outside of them.
- Depending on the crime or whoever is choosing the punishment, Exiles can be voluntary (i.e. the perpetrator can choose where they will be escorted) or against their will. If unlucky, the person can be dropped off next to a known hotspot for toxicity.
- This isn't done frequently, as the transporters for the perpetrators aren't always keen on going too far out anyway. Another location for exile is determined by them. Transporters can be sympathetic or lazy and drop the perpetrator off right outside the city, or they can be paid under the table to go somewhere real mean.
So how does this play into my story ?
- Tatsuo, a socialite and son of a councilman, was once charged with accounts of hosting. Hosting is a serious crime in Evelow, so Tatsuo escaped on his own and his whereabouts are unknown. Better to leave on his own than let the council decide his location of exile. (Though they probably would have been nice to him due to his status.)
- Heidi, nuisance to Evelow, is probably a frequent face seen in the public broadcast. However, she doesn't care about reputation the same way most Evelonians do, so she's unphased.
- My main ocs (save for Audrey) are exiled in their own ways at the end of arc five, kicking off their circumstances for the final arc.
