A large, gruff merchant who ran a small Apothecary stall in the refugee camps. Near made a note that he seemed well-liked by the elders. When Near needed it most, Solmund took Near firmly under his wing, teaching him the tricks of the trade and even introduced him to his merchant network. Near adores Solmund and finds him extremely reliable, even if the world-ending problems Near deals with now are firmly out of Solmund's scope.
Somehow he's turned into this menace's mentor, and Solmund can't bring himself to mind. A few years ago Near saved his life. Near's returned with seemingly zero memory, so what else could he have done other than keep an eye out for him?
Near's a venerated hero of the star nowadays, which confuses and worries the hell out of Solmund. He'll take care of their people back home, and he hopes Near finds that reassuring, wherever he may be.
