hello, it's maddie! i've been in some little dirt hole for a while so my toyhouse has been kinda dead for a bit. mostly getting thrown again and again into art block then just barely updating my toyhouse; i got a huge backlog of characters and art i gotta upload. and i got a kinda overdue queue too, so i'll start off with that!

QUEUE UPDATE + REGARDING FUTURE COMMISSIONS 

i'm super sorry to those waiting on stuff from me. i'm gonna be working on it super hard these next couple of days. you are all super patient, thank you so much and i'll be adding on some extra doodles and stuff to your owed stuff because i am absolutely taking longer than i wanted.

i've never been a super fast artist, and i need to also realize my brain is really difficult with actually fulfilling commissions in a reasonable time. i already basically always have commissions publicly closed, but i'm gonna be even more strict about it for myself. i absolutely get a lot of people always asking about commissions and i feel so honored for it, but i will be making it a bit more difficult to get artwork from me, majorly a price increase and a huge disclaimer i can take 1-3 months for art and it's usually on the later end. custom designs will be taken more often than just artwork because it's easier to fulfill. if you are curious in my work, i suggest messaging me with what you're looking for and a budget! i don't have really solid prices for my stuff, as a whole you can expect it in the $60-$300 range, but i prefer actually discussing it. thanks!

USERNAME CHANGE...?

this will not impact the username on this site, but in other places i have gone by neighdom, the -dom suffix is used like kingdom and stuff, but i realize it's kinda just dead air to me to have a user not taken on other sites. but i want to hopefully get my name out there more, i want something i feel more genuinely into. this transition might be a bit slow because i'll have to make new accounts on some places to redirect the change, but now my proper username is neighdumb, or just neigh on applicable places. this really won't impact anything here other than the signature i use on my art/adopts and my links offsite soon enough.

MY BIRTHDAY + OTHER THOUGHTS

last month on the 15th, i turned 21! i had a great day and all that, of course. i know most people like to turn over a new leaf on new years, have their resolutions, etc. but my birthday was always my time to do that because it feels a lot more personal. i didn't immediately get up and try to get off my ass this april, but now i'm trying! i'm hoping to be more productive! plan out my room! buy a bunch of shit to organize my living space! overhaul my branding! maybe make merch! make a bunch more adopts! all that! i want to do better, every year i do a bit better but i'm really gonna try to shoot for the moon a bit this time. my girlfriend got an ipad recently and i got to try out procreate. i'm still getting used to using a pen and having actual pressure sensitivity and not just managing it with my finger. it'll probably increase the speed i can draw, that would be pretty nice.

 as you probably noticed, there's also a little poll attached to this. just gauging interest! i have gotten a bit back into minecraft lately too so i've thought about mc adopts, more specifically the new sniffer mob. i don't really care to do "fandom" adopts often but minecraft might just be general enough people would be cool with it. also specific species suggestions are always good for me, especially something you've never seen before! wanna expand out to do some more obscure things.

just gonna put those at the top of any bulletins i make for now so that the emergency one isn't hidden. being able to interact with people here and make bulletins for discussion is keeping me sane right now lmao 

anyways, i was curious! have you made any characters inspired from mine? i actually like knowing i inspire people and so i was wondering. if it's vaguely inspired off a few, or there's one specific character or two you had in mind, let me know!

i never talked about it but i'm very much fine with inspiration, though i prefer it actually if it was characters that are in my primary folder / tagged with "home," actually! i know it's odd at first to be more comfortable with people being inspired by characters that are personal to me, but it's because those are characters that won't leave me and therefore people uncomfortable with their designs being inspired don't have to deal with it in the case i sell less used characters. i think that makes sense.

also this isn't really related but i just wanted to add that if anybody wants to link any of our characters together, i'm fine with those requests. i think it'd only weird me out if it was any of the characters from my world dead horse point because those characters are pretty personal but other than that, feel free! it's fun and i think my ocs should have friends

wanting to try and make more adopts, but i can never gauge what people are really looking for.

what kind of themes, color palettes, species, etc. are you guys interested in? should i try doing chibi and/or base designs so i can make more? is there anything else people are looking for?

i just love people who have dedicated folders for specific traits in characters that they really like. it instantly brightens my day seeing my characters be put in folders for colored teeth or desert themes. please keep doing that! i used to have some themed folders but they were super vague and i made some pretty odd choices in what i put in there. maybe i'll do it again but more specific? i think more people should do it regardless

i like making bulletins just talking about things but i worry it may be a bit annoying for people. i would just keep them to toyhouse related things like this or stuff about characters. i would talk in forums but it's a bit different than just talking towards followers/mutuals and anyone who stumbles on my profile. i won't do it much and i'll keep them thoughtful if i do talk about anything?
