TideClan is unique, in that they reside entirely within the Ocean. Their territory consists of many small islands, most of which are sandbars and are swallowed entirely by water during the high tides, only accessible when the waters recede. All of TideClan's cats need to understand the timing of the Ocean's flow, and apprentices are not allowed to leave the main island until they are tested on their tide charts, which they begin learning during their fourth moon as kits. While all apprentices are given a mentor on their sixth moon, many are not given an apprentice's name until their seventh or even eighth moon, when they complete their tide training and can finally leave the island. This is a huge step in a cat's life, almost as great as being named a warrior, and the naming ceremony is one of the most festive in the Clan. It is not unusual for littermates to be named many suns apart, for either their apprentice or warrior titles, and this is done entirely on merit and ability, not age.
