Eliot never planned to get tied up in a galatic mystery, but then again, does anyone?

After failing to get funding for medical school, Eliot is fortunatley hired by the Silver Star. He's put together with a experimental group run by Artemis and finally feels like he's in control of his destiny. After spending sometime following orders the team are confronted with a strange force. An empty doorway in the middle of space. Why is this here? Where does it lead? And what does this discovery mean for Eliot, Briar, Artemis, Nikol, and Ream?
