Hey yall!! I've finished school for the semester here which means hopefully a lot more art, comms, and more coming soon! If you're interested in commission openings, you can check out my Vgen page!! I'll post there when I'm ready to start accepting stuff!
However, I would like to get some up-to-date examples of art before opening comms officially. If you have something you'd like drawn, feel free to comment here or message me with your idea and how much you'd be willing to pay (no minimum). These would be experimental PWYW comms, basically!
Ideally, art will be finished by June 7th, before I go on vacation. If that time comes and your comm isn't finished, you can request a full refund regardless of the level of finish (and you can keep any WIPs if you like). Payment is upfront, but you'll be guaranteed a refund if you ask for one; I never spend money from commissions until I've fulfilled the request. However, I will not give a full refund if I've already started the piece and it's before the 7th (I will refund you relative to how much work has already been done).

Anyways. Hello chat. Lilith has been around for roughly four slutty, slutty years, and the whole time he's been called either Lilith or Lily. And, while this is a cool name on its own, it... Doesn't really make a lot of sense for him to be called that. For some time now this has been bothering me and I'm wondering if it might be time to bite the bullet and change it.
If you wanna know the more in-depth reasoning (the LiLore, if you will), you can read below, but it's not super important to the question so you can skip it if you like!
Mainly and most obvious, he's masc-identifying, and the combination of a historically exclusively feminine name combined with his (admittedly fem-looking) design means that he gets misgendered A Lot. But, more importantly to me, the name has basically no connection to any of his lore or themes, especially since I disconnected him from Devil May Cry and made him an original story. This is actually something that's been bothering me for a long time, but I wasn't sure how to go about changing it, or even if that was a good idea!
Why was he even called Lilith in the first place? It's actually because he was originally conceptualized as a completely different character. His very first iteration was actually a NieR: Automata self-insert OC that really only existed in my head and was never on paper. As you can probably guess if you're familiar with the game at all, he was meant to be a third "brother" to Adam and Eve later in the game's story. Both Adam and Eve are male, even though Eve is named after the biblical woman, so it isn't much of a stretch to imagine that this hypothetical third unit would have a related name regardless of gender presentation.
And then things happened, and since he never actually got put down on paper and I was only really rotating him in my brain, as I started to fixate on DMC he slowly morphed into a DMC OC. He was unrecognizable from the initial concept, but I never bothered to change his name for some reason. I guess because that's just what I'd always called him up until then, and because I figured the name Lilith wouldn't be out-of-place in DMC anyways (and indeed, the reboot did include a Lilith character, although she was... uh...). Anyways, the name stuck, and as I started to be more public with him and use him in RP groups and whatnot I found myself continuously needing to explain that no, he's a dude, he just has a weird name. Plus, as he started to grow into his own character rather than just my self-insert, he developed themes and motifs that just didn't line up with the name "Lilith". Admittedly, he's still constantly changing and his whole deal is kinda unstable, but I'm a bit more certain in what I want to do with him now.
Tl;dr: I'm the Names With Heavy Symbolism Guy and the name Lilith does not, in fact, have any symbolism aside from "sounds neat".
SO, with that in mind:
What should his name be? Should I keep it the same or go for something different? If I did change it, it'd be a huge plus if "Lily" was still a viable nickname for him; I honestly call him that more than his actual name, so it'd ease the transition a bit.

Art block had HANDS this year. I wasn't able to draw as much as I would have liked, but that's mostly because I didn't have proper medication. Now that I do, I'm hoping that 2024 will have you guys seeing a lot more art from me!

Hi all! I just found this amazing tool and wanted to spread the word. Glaze is a software that allows you to "cloak" your art to make AI databases unable to analyze it, protecting against unauthorized use. The changes made to the image are tiny and barely noticeable, so your art still looks the way you want it to! I think it's an amazing resource given the state of AI as it is, so go make use of it!
