| The Bureau of Beautiful Soldiers is a catch-all universe for my magical girl characters. In this universe, magical girl-ism is a bit like the Chicken Pox. You get it as a kid, you have it for a while, it wears off, you're immunized. But if you get it as an adult, it's a motherfucker. Mahou-ism usually occurs between 10 and 16 and lasts for 1-3 years. If contracted as an adult, it is a permanent condition. Some carriers contract mahou-ism as a child and carry it through to adulthood. This results in a lot of wear and tear on the body, but seriously OP abilities. (Ability ranking would be (pre)teen mahou < adult mahou < adult mahou who contracted as a child.) Adult mahous are encouraged to register with their local police departments and form a sort of neighborhood watch/civilian police force tasked with dealing with magical threats. Kid mahous deal with kid threats naturally, but adults come in for the nasty shit or in case a kid mahou's enemy gets out of hand. (Rare, but it happens.) There's no real overarching plot with this, just bits of slice of life stuff and small arcs. |
