From Hyde's Perspective - sort of the other end of his origin story

Information for those unfamiliar with the species: Fumis go through a somewhat lengthy maturation. They are born helpless with specialized care requirements. The feed exclusively on a milk like substance produced only by their own mother or a designated nurse breed fumi. This critical period lasts between two and three years and it is difficult and costly to rear a "puggle" aged fumi to the safer age range of "rookie" without either owning a nurse fumi to care for it or the mother itself. Synthetic and expressed crop milk is available from high end suppliers but it has a premium price tag and can be difficult to get a young fumi to accept.

It needs to be understood to anyone unfamiliar with the species that they produce mist like breath called aether that when breathed in by humans can be a mood enhancer. The theory behind where Hyde was born is that even considering how high maintenance fumis can be that some people would find a way to treat them much the way they treat dogs, milling them out to "farm" their aether and abuse it like a drug.
