PHYSICAL ITEM COMMS

Posted 1 year, 3 months ago by Grzybowt

HI this is going to be a HUGE bulletin that I would really appreciate it if anyone seeing this could pass it around! I am finally opening up PHYSICAL ITEM COMMISSIONS! I will be doing a breakdown of each of these by category.

I WANT TO STRESS THAT WHILE THESE DESCRIPTIONS MAY GIVE A WEALTH OF INFORMATION ON PRICING, YOUR TOTAL PRICE WILL BE UNIQUE TO YOUR ORDER, AND IN ORDER TO COMMISSION ANYTHING YOU NEED TO FIRST GET A (FREE) PRICE QUOTE FROM ME.

The things I will be offering:

- ART DOLLS

- STUFFED ANIMALS

- RESTORATION WORK (ON STUFFED ANIMALS / SIMILAR)

- CUSTOM-PAINTED DENIM (OR FABRIC) PATCHES

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

ART DOLLS

Art Dolls are poseable dolls with a wire frame wrapped in yarn and covered in fabric. their heads (if humanoid) have hand-applied yarn hair scalps. There are several different ways you can go about a doll like this!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The cheaper of the two is a single-outfit doll like these where the hands, feet, and head are made of stationary baked clay, and the yarn-wrapped wire frame is covered in a SINGLE non-removable outfit (so the yarn may show slightly under the clothing). This is good for characters with one iconic outfit or people looking for a poseable doll in a cheaper price range. For outfits that show skin in any capacity (arms, legs, neck, etc.) an extra fee may be tacked on due to having to sculpt/felt/fur visible arms (prototypes will be sent to you as I am working for approval) These dolls can also be upgraded (which increases price slightly) to include removable accessories like scarves, glasses, hats, etc. I strive for each doll to be unique to the wants and needs of the commissioner, so if there is anything you want specifically for your doll please don't hesitate to ask if it would be possible! Size is also negotiable, but I am most comfortable working at a below 1 ft scale.

SINGLE OUTFIT DOLLS START AT 120$

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

DISCLAIMER: WITH "NAKED" DOLLS I WILL /NOT/ SCULPT GENITALIA

The second art doll option comes in the form of the fully furred/felted body with OR without outfits. This is what I would consider most feral and anthro OCs to fall under. I currently do not have any examples of fully felted (basically skin showing or naked) human dolls with/without outfits, so if you'd like something like that, I would be willing to work very closely with you (with a discount) to make it happen. These dolls will start out the same as the others but will have fully covered yarn bases which can either be skin, a full body suit, or whatever you'd like the base layer to be. Any feral character without accessories or clothing will fit into this "naked and furred" category so yes, you can order the doll naked and make your own clothes! Fur or skin detail will be hand painted on to a base layer, so excessive patterning may cost more. Additional outfits will cost more as well but are on a case-by-case basis.

NAKED / FURRED DOLLS START AT 160$

NAKED / FURRED DOLLS WITH SINGLE INCLUDED FULL OUTFIT START AT 180$ (may be lower OR higher based on outfit)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

STUFFED ANIMALS

Stuffed Animals are larger fabric or fur depictions of your character or one-of-a-kind creatures. They will be made with a combination of materials and may include a wire frame or teddy bear joints for pose ability, stuffed with poly fill stuffing. Most of my stuffed animals sport either paper clay hand-sculpted faces to mimic that of 50s-60s rubber face dolls, or fully soft plush fabric faces made of the same material as the body. Feel free to suggest specific body shapes or wants/needs for fabric and textures! I love working with texture. Since I do not use a specific material for Plushes you will (upon confirming an order) receive swatches for the different large color areas. Smaller color areas MAY be requested as sewn or else they will default to being painted on. I may decline sewn markings if they would simply take too much time as I would like to balance price and quality to ensure I meet deadlines

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fully sewn stuffed animals of existing ocs may be in most any requested style (although I will not copy other artists' work without permission) and any size up to 2 FT in length and height standing up (tall ears or tails will not count towards this limit but will affect the pricing if excessive) is acceptable. I source all my materials from a local art supply thrift store so if I cannot source something locally, I may need to pay more to source it online. Artistic liberty stuffed animals are at a discount because they give me a chance to clear out my scrap bin and get my creative juices flowing!

FULL SEW EXISTING CHARACTER STUFFIES START AT 200$

ARTISTIC LIBERTY FULL SEW STUFFIES START AT 150$

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Stuffed animals with paper clay sculpted faces are much more fragile and are not suggested for use as a sleeping buddy but can be just as squishy! The faces start on a base of aluminum foil and go through several rounds of sculpting throughout a couple weeks due to drying times and can have painted on eyes or glass/plastic eyes inserted through the back. Because of the planning and time required these are more expensive but give characters a unique look! Artistic liberty paper clay stuffed animals are at a discount because they give me a chance to clear out my scrap bin and get my creative juices flowing! If you are in the market for something small (like the second example) the price will be around 80$ for an existing character, and 50$ for an artistic liberty.

PAPER CLAY FACE EXISTING CHARACTER STUFFIES START AT 240$

ARTISTIC LIBERTY PAPER CLAY FACE STUFIES START AT 200$

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you ever wanted to hang your beloved character on the wall? Hunt them for sport? If yes, Taxidermy head mounts are for you! This commission type features a plush head and upper neck bust of your character mounted on to a wood backdrop to be hung on the wall as if it were a taxidermied animal bust. I am willing to mimic other taxidermy wall displays for a higher price. The base price includes a circular wall hang backdrop.

OC TAXIDERMY BUST MOUNTS START AT 150$

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

RESTORATION WORK

While I enjoy making new works of art, I also really want to dive deeper into stuffed animal restoration content! With this commission type you will (with permission) receive a public YouTube video of the project as well as constant DM progress photos and questions related to what you'd like to do with it. I can do cleaning, restuffing, replacement of certain things, and additions. My goal is to reduce waste by bringing things back to life :).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I know this may come to a surprise to some of you but the kind of stuffed animals I am most comfortable with restoring are vintage Steiff stuffed animals. Because of this my two example videos above are of a 1960s and 1980s Steiff cat respectively. I can certainly work on newer or more damaged guys, though! This definitely a case-by-case payment thing so please contact me with details!

RESTORATIONS START AT 20$

8. I reserve the right to deny any commission if the character is too complicated, makes me uncomfortable, or for whatever reason cannot be transferred into my style.

9. If you have any specific preferences like thread color, fabric texture, fabric application, placement of markings, ETC that differs from the reference material PLEASE make it heard in the pre-production state. I will do my best to communicate with the commissioner but if they are not happy due to something they themselves failed to mention I reserve the right not to refund or redo my work over again if said work is too detrimental to the end product.

10. The buyer is responsible for the payment of shipping. Shipping will be approximately calculated using the USPS zip-to-zip estimation feature. While I can't buy right now, I just wanted to stop by and say these look so, SO good! I collect vintage/antique plushies too, but I also have some artist plushies sprinkled in between and I have to say—your plushies have so much character! You have a really unique plushie-making style and I love the variety of characters you can work with! Your restoration work is awesome, too! I'm not sure if I've ever seen plushie-makers here offer restoration work, so it's a super sweet option for folks like me who collect vintage toys. Keep up the great work, dude! I'll totally have to check this out again in the future! c:

I really appreciate your kind words! Thank you so much :) I really enjoy how rewarding restoration is, I'm glad to know there are others in my circle who enjoy it as much as I do. Do you specialize in anything? I'm 1940s-1980s steiff cats & 1980-1990 flat printed plastic eye stuffed animals all the way! My dream holy grail is to own a Rushton rubber face... they're sooo expensive! I do not have 500$+ to spend like that!! Ughh.. even for dirty ruined ones!

Of course! All your work looks lovely! And Steiff cats are super cute! I have a few of them myself. I don't know much about 1980s–1990s toys as they're generally out of my interest range (with the exception of some), but I think a lot of them are super cute and have loads of character! Especially the cartoony plushies from the 1980s. I feel your pain! I love pre-war toys (<1945), but they're very difficult to come across in person and are often out of my price range. I have some, but I'd love more someday! I wish you like with getting a Rushton! Rubber-faced toys of the 1950s–60s are a dime a dozen online and at antique shops (at least where I'm from), so it's crazy that Rushtons in particular are so much money! Maybe someday you'll get lucky—I certainly have before!

So awesome! And that's understandable, I like ones that kind of "fail" at being their described animal or at least have big expression full eyes, cuz the only modern plush that have those sorts of expressive eyes are the cheap ones at carnivals! Talk about a downgrade!

Also your antique stories sound wild I have not even seen a rubber face before in real life... guess ohio was just not into em.. I always tell my friends to look out for them for me! I really want a bright red cat, (obviously not a rushton, the fake look alikes are just as cute!) Which is exactly why my sculpted face dolls even exist aha

I feel you! I have an old beaver plushie who is a very awkwardly shaped beaver, LMAO. The expressive eyes are super cute! They give them a really sweet cartoony look which I think is very fitting for plushies. And I feel that! I have a few 1950s/60s plushies that I believe could have started their lives as carnival plushies at one point (they're made on the cheaper side by 1950s/60s standards) and they're still much better quality than the carnival plushies I see nowadays.

That's crazy! I feel like I see them a lot when I go antiquing. Not Rushtons or anything, but the cheaper, sort of mass-produced ones that came out of the 1950s-60s. I definitely see them much more frequently than anything I personally collect. I hope you can get some more rubber-faced stuff someday! Have you tried looking for them on Etsy? I've bought vintage toys from there before and I've definitely seen some variety. I've never properly looked for rubber-faced toys, but you might have some luck with sellers there!

These are incredible!! I'm considering getting one in the future :)
