So awesome! And that's understandable, I like ones that kind of "fail" at being their described animal or at least have big expression full eyes, cuz the only modern plush that have those sorts of expressive eyes are the cheap ones at carnivals! Talk about a downgrade!

Also your antique stories sound wild I have not even seen a rubber face before in real life... guess ohio was just not into em.. I always tell my friends to look out for them for me! I really want a bright red cat, (obviously not a rushton, the fake look alikes are just as cute!) Which is exactly why my sculpted face dolls even exist aha

I feel you! I have an old beaver plushie who is a very awkwardly shaped beaver, LMAO. The expressive eyes are super cute! They give them a really sweet cartoony look which I think is very fitting for plushies. And I feel that! I have a few 1950s/60s plushies that I believe could have started their lives as carnival plushies at one point (they're made on the cheaper side by 1950s/60s standards) and they're still much better quality than the carnival plushies I see nowadays.

That's crazy! I feel like I see them a lot when I go antiquing. Not Rushtons or anything, but the cheaper, sort of mass-produced ones that came out of the 1950s-60s. I definitely see them much more frequently than anything I personally collect. I hope you can get some more rubber-faced stuff someday! Have you tried looking for them on Etsy? I've bought vintage toys from there before and I've definitely seen some variety. I've never properly looked for rubber-faced toys, but you might have some luck with sellers there!
