OMGG shakes and shivers like a wild animal........ I can finally talk about Atlas Dagon my precious child........

First off there's HxH chapter 357 manga spoilers ahead and a bit of sensitive content just so people reading this know !!-

Atlas Dagon is a 26 year old who's soul has intertwined with the deceased Phantom Troupe memeber Shalnark Ryuseih as a result of being "a Memoul vessel." Atlas often gets memories of Shalnark's life referring to them at first as "memories that are not mine" then later "my old memories." He gains more and more of these memories as certain events occur in his life or when "The Crow" lands on his shoulders or head. These memories are slowly driving him to insanity, and he often cannot tell who he is (himself or Shalnark) or who is the real him.

Before the Memoul incident, Atlas was an anxious and reserved person. He hated being around other people and, because he came from Meteor City, tried his very best to avoid conflict with violent people. He always stood back and let others take from him. Of course this changes when he becomes a Memoul vessel and gains a personaility more akin to Shalnark.

He can talk with his Memoul aka the Crow through telepathic means. The Crow often taunts him, which always makes matters worse for Atlas. Though the Crow was the one who encourged him to seek and join the Phantom Troupe and become number 6. Atlas has never been sure if that's because the Crow wants him to turn more into Shalnark or if it had other intentions.

!!!SPOILERS FOR THE END OF ATLAS'S STORY UP AHEAD!!!

In the end, Atlas does have Shalnark fully take over him and he becomes Shalnark just in the body of Atlas. It was either that or live a life of constant confusion, disorientation, self-harming tendencies and so on.

ALSO  BTW, the bird/crow is called a Memoul

 A Memoul is usually a flying creature like a bird or bug (the most common are crows and moths) and they are always pitch black in colour asides from their eyes which are the colour of the persons eyes that they carry the soul of (they also come from the dark continent)

Memouls, when they land on the dead body or eat part of the body of a dead person, the soul of that person intertwines with the Memoul 

It then carries that soul with them until it find a vessel to place the soul into 

Someone who is alive and that isn’t being controlled by nen (example: by a Manipulator’s ability) has to make eye contact with a Memoul to become a Memoul vessel and being a Memoul vessel is...Very hard in the sense of sometimes it can be hard to determine if you're yourself or the soul within you and that can drive you to insanity adjoad-

There's so many other things too for example: When you first make eye contact with a Memoul you experience the pain of how that soul/person died and gain all the important memories of their life including their name and faces of the people closest to them

Being a Memoul vessel you sometimes talk and act like the soul within you and sometimes will respond to their name being spoken, and since this is Hunter x Hunter, a Memoul vessel has the Nen ability/abilites/strength/etc of that soul/person that died as well as their own 

A Memoul vessel also has an odd coloured eye (typically the their right) that is one complete colour and that colour represents the eye colour of the soul the memoul gave you,,,, The eye must be covered up with an eye patch, bandages, etc in the first week/7 days of the Memoul vessel being a memoul vessel or else they will go completely insane to the point of no return and may kill themselves and or harm others around them

Luckily in Atlas’s case his best friend knew about Memouls and knew what had happened and helped him out in the first 4 and a half days. Tho because it was left for that period of time, Atlas struggles a lot more than if his eye had been covered on the first day… OH YEAH and if you're already a Memoul vessel, if the Memoul that made you a Memoul vessel lands on you, you gain a new memory of that souls life
