These days i listen to songs and kinda wing it w help from pinterest BAHAH or I dream about the character and draw them from what i remember!!

usually it starts with a certain role in a story idea that needs to be filled in, so i mentally sift through preexisting characters, archetypes, and styles that i like and that would suit that role, until i have a rough amalgam of ideas, and then i mess around with picrews and other such "character makers" to flesh out the visual ideas into something less vague, and then i do my own drawing (if i can fight off ye old artblock lol)

I see one idea I like and after that I look for multiple examples I think would go good with that design, then I freeball it

That sounds about the same process I do and what the process that professional concept and / character designers do! :]

For designs I actually end up liking I spend a lot of time doing rough sketches in a sketch book with a pen. It’s more fluid and the line work is more confident and fluid. So u can just make tones of the same design with tweaks. And eventually I land on something I like. I draw some more dynamic drawings in the book then take pics and do digital. With coming up with ideas I just scroll Pinterest, social media’s for a big and maybe do some research depending and ya
