I've returned >:D

I found such a wonderful game awhile ago and completely forgot to mention it--  while it's a bit of a visual novel / dating sim it's also a like a life sim / RPG thing!!

It's so wonderful ,, and I've spent so many hour in this game because it absolutely captivated me with the characters and art and lore and story and everything and fTGYUHJI !!!!!!!!!!

The game is "I was a teenage exocolonist" and it is worth every penny!! It's on steam and I'm not sure if it's on anything else!

If you like the game I would be more than happy to ramble over it with you !!

OMG ILL DEFINITELY LOOK INTO IT TMR!! :3

Let me know what you think!!! its the cutest game ever!!

HIII i basically only play visual novels and otomes/dating sims so id say i have alot of reccomendations! i have alot of stuff in my steam library, psp and nintendo switch, free games and paid games...also mobile games, lmk what your looking for specifically and i can send you a list!!! :)

ALSO TOUCHSTARVED YESSS!!!!

IM FINE W/ ANYTHING TBH SO THROW ANYTHING AT ME!!

THIS IS GONNA BE SUPER LONG IM SORRY FEEL FREE TO SKIP THESE GRAAAGH I TRIED USING COLOUR TO DIVIDE THE TEXT UP A BIT BUT IDK IF THAT HELPED,,,

nintendo switch otomes that i own (all paid games) theres alot sorry LMAO some of them im putting on here just in case you wanted to check out but i might not personally like them so yknow!!
-Olympia soiree:
An island that segregates its citizens by colour of hair, people with more mixed colours are looked down upon and there are some colours that are respected, you play as a girl white hair and try to tackle the societal issues while also falling in love with a guy of your choice, personall i think its a really good game, around like...40-ish hours if you read fast like me?? honestly, its just a great story and very mature,i loved all the love interests too as they all felt very...idk,they added alot to the plot and in general were amazing stories, all of them branch off to their unique routes and in general it was an emotional experience! totally reccomend if you have some time (and money) to spare!
-Even if tempest:
a magical medival setting, has time loop (and time travel) elements, and its a really interesting experience,id say the romance isnt as prominent here but i like it this way honestly,it was an amazing game that i dont wanna spoil but its basically about the witch trials and being a victim of them (and basically, getting revenge) the protagonist is badass and im in love with her LMAO ANYWAYS this one is like....15-ish hours long, short but really good imo, definitely reccomend it, i got it on a sale and it was worth the money totally, the sequel is also really good!
-charade maniacs:
this one is basically a death game where everyone has to act in short little episodes to keep surviving, and its basically in like...another world so theres alot of mystery elements to it too...i honestly dont really reccomend this game, the lore is very messy and in general i feel like it can be incredibly frustrating because of that (as someone who moreso plays dating sims/otomes for the plot,im being fr LMAO) but honestly, some routes were really worth the time...most of them didnt feel like it tho,for me...but hey! canon nonbinary character in this game i think thats pretty cool, but otherwise...id skip.the opening is good tho! its like around...30-ish hours to do like most of the routes so its probably like 40 or so hours to do everything
-sympathy kiss:
okay so...i recently played through most of this and i honestly like it alot more than i expected! its about working on an app for your company and making it popular again so it doesnt get shut down, and you can basically romance the workers around you,i thought it was a really mature game that i enjoyed alot (although it still has some very big anime-esque tropes,i dont mind it since the characters are pretty good overall) my only complaint is the girl you play as is...just an eyeless, speechless stand in,she sorta has a personality but they really just brush over her and it was sad for me since i like to play alongside the protagonist instead of become them, but otherwise just a really cool experience,it has a range of ages aswell which i enjoy (i love old men so it appeals to me specifically LMAO) anyways yeah thats like around 20-30 hours id say, definitely reccomend
-ayakashi, romance reborn:
i just dont like this game, its a switch port of one of those mobile gacha games and honestly its just...not worth the like...$30 that it was (i got it on sale so it was actually like $10 but oh well) its missing alot of content since the game was still getting updated way after this (and they never updated the switch port for some reason) it cuts out alot of the pay to play elements thankfully but its very empty, and just in general the stories are just...honestly boring?i played a handful of different characters and all of them were just...not much,in general theres not much content,no voices (there is in the prologue but i mean cmon this game is alot of money) and in general you could just play the free version...itd be better
-Norn9 Var commons:
honestly i do not really enjoy this game (i used to years ago), its got a really interesting concept tho imo! its about time travel (again woooo again omggg) and magical powers and shit,i am NOT describing it well uh.lets see so...you can choose from 3 protagonists (i love them all) and they all have voices and their own personalities and their own powers, trauma, etc etc.and so its kinda hard to describe the game without spoiling the actual good things about it...so basically, you get put on this ship with other magical ability kids and its kinda different why your there depending on the girl you play as,and in general the powers are kinda generic but played in an interesting way (like for example, someone has fire powers, and thats really traumatizing for them) the game is actually darker than it looks and id even argue that alot of the routes are quite...toxic,but im not sure if its...supposed to be?? honestly one of the reasons i cant reccomend it,because at times i feel like it encourages the bad behaviour instead of realizing its actually pretty terrible (but ofc,i do love darker stuff too,its just i feel like they didnt even realize they were DOING that, they make it all cutesy and act like nothing is wrong etc etc and its like...yeesh) anyways, because of the amount of guys you can choose the routes are extremely short...like 3-ish hours each...so its a really short, messy experience (in my honest opinion) but honestly,i do think it has good qualities and i appreciate its influence on the otome community,id just get it on a sale if you were curious honestly
-cupid parasite:
okay i just wanna say,i LOVE this game, its alot of comedy and some drama mixed in there and honestly its a great experience ESPECIALLY if you love self aware comedy and pathetic babygirl men!!! its about cupid (yes, that cupid) working in the human world as a marriage counselor (or like...a dating advise person, she basically gets people together etc) and one day shes assigned this project where she has to help these like...5 guys who keep failing their dates LMAO so its basically cupid babysitting a bunch of pathetic meow meow men (and you can date all of them) and honestly its just fun and great imo,i totally reccomend it,oh and the ost is actually amazing! id say its like...around 20-30 hours or something??
-Birushana:
i havent played all the routes in this but i loved it alot (rlly need to get back to it) you play as a female presenting as a man (due to her circumstances as the last heir to a pretty important guy) and theres also fantastical elements and historical elements too so if you love japanese history like me i imagine youll get a kick out of it! i honestly love the darker plot, and honestly the way it handles certain topics really got me, especially the (idk if this is a spoiler but oh well) father issues, masculinity (toxic and positive) and femininity, gender and family in general, mortality etc etc i just think it did alot of interesting things..it reminds me alot of hakuoki (for alot of reasons, like the demons and mortality and MORALITY stuff and also the historical setting) ill be talking about hakuoki in the steam section anyways, such a cool game,i totally reccomend not sure how many hours itd be but worth the money imo! also just great artstyle (im biased but whatever)
-cafe enchante:
this one is a bit more chill compared to some ive mentioned on here, but it still has dark elements and drama too, its about a girl who worked at a shitty job and then ended up opening up her grandpas old cafe for a change, turns out its a magical isekai cafe and different types of creatures go there, but theres only like 4 regulars there (the 4 guys you can persue) and i think its an interesting game! ive only played 1 route so far (canus espada my beloved) but it was great! i really like the way it tackles moving on,grief and overcoming weaknesses together, although the protagonist wasnt my favourite i think shes very sweet and i liked her! oh hey, another canon nonbinary in this game! they are just a side character but still very neat mhm mhm, honestly its not my favourite game but i did really enjoy what ive seen, just in general the characters are super unique (an otaku angel and a headless fairy knight for example) and idk man its just a good game,i dont know how long itd be but id say like 40....30 hours maybe?
-Radiant tale:
this one is completely fantastical, set in a magical world with many different magics and creatures (like dragons, water spirits etc) you join a circus and the goal is to make every city smile to make flowers bloom to help the prince be cured from his disease,in general its a fun concept and i like how it tackles the...very dark side of humanity and power(atleast in one route) but also in general i just really like how it uses real human issues (like depression and trauma) and utilises it in such a magical world...its like a realistic fantasy world, which i really appreciate, although i feel like some sections couldve been longer its still a great experience,i reccomend it,especially for the art! literally gorgeous characters! id say its mayb like...30 hours or something? not sure, only played one route so far (i do this alot i apologize)
-piofiore fated memories:
mafia...like 1920s mafia setting in italy, lots of drama,id say its quite dark and in some ways i think it also plays with religion (especially in the ost and with the protagonist) i think it does have some fantastical elements but i barely saw them, although i just played one route (and honestly i didnt really like it but whatever) i really like the vibes in general and the routes are very interesting! i reccomend this one if you like fast paced action (cuz honestly thats ALL i remember) idk how long it is,but it was pretty cool!
-Collarxmalice:
this one is set in a modern japan (i cant remember where specifically sorry but its in like 1 city) and you work as a police officer, you try to uncover the mystery of these certain murders and meet these guys along the way doing the same thing,i havent gotten too far into this yet but its great, absolutely great! i totally reccomend this if you like intense drama and well developed characters (characters that, despite still being created to be likeable, have their own flaws, weaknesses and bad sides) i dont have much to say about it honestly but...just a cool game, totally reccomend! and so does everyone else in the otome community (its very popular)
-hana awase series:
okay theres 4 of these, barely played any of them but im reccomending this one jsut in case, its heavily influenced by a card game (that you get to play in the games) and its kinda like an ouran high school host club thing where a normal protagonist goes to rich school and has to fit in ,i dont have much to say,but the artstyle and music is amazing! its very trope-y from what i played but honestly not too bad
-variable barricade:
this game is very fun,ive been playing it recently and wow i just love it, a rich girl who is the heir of her clan needs to choose a groom (even tho she really doesnt want to) and all her potential suitors are like the most fucked up people ever (affectionate) like...GUY WHOSE ADDICTED TO GAMLING,GUY WHO COMMITTED MARRIAGE FRAUD..GUY WHO HAS FOOT FETISH LMAO honestly just a very funny game but it does have alot of character development which i enjoy alot,i reccomend if you prefer comedy over drama ^^ the protagonist also shares a voice actor with hatsune miku!!
-jack jeanne:
not played this one yet but i heard its one of the best otomes around right now,its less romance focused from what i heard, theres stat building and music games but thats basically all i know...
-tengoku struggle strayside:
not played much of this yet but its about hell, and our protagonist works as one of the punishers of hell (i believe...? i havent played much at all) and the routes are all people who went to hell  as far as i know, seems really interesting!
-code realize series:
okay im super biased but code realize is one of my favourite series ever! from anything! its heavily steampunk inspired, late 1800s london and you play as a girl who melts everything she touches, shes quite literally lethal to everything! i love this series alot, especially for how it tackles so many things so well,i love the development of the characters and how the protagonist herself grows as a human being,in general its jsuta  cool game but i reccomend getting the 2nd game too since it ties up alot of loose ends (that mightve been there) and in general it completes the story !!! idk what else to say,its just a cool game and its very idk...hope vs despair life vs death light vs dark sorta thing, its very dramatic and beautiful,i enjoy everything about it <3 as far as i know they are cheaper than most otome games on nintendo switch so yeah!

i think thats all the nintendo switch games i could reccomend, this is SUPER long (im so sorry) but i have alot of games on steam too...so... ill just describe them really quick.cuz i have...literally 40+ visual novels and otomes on my steam library GAH

STEAM GAMES (some paid some free)
-class of 09 (paid):
HAVE NOT PLAYED YET BUT IT LOOKS VERY FUNNY!!!
-dream daddy (paid):
uhhmmm from what i remember this was just a fun game, but i havent played it in years LMAO IDK IF YOU LIKE DADS THEN GO FOR IT I GUESS
-taisho x alice (paid):
idk much about this otome, but it looks interesting, its about fairytale characters as far as i know (like cinderella)
-butterfly poison blood chains (paid):
this game is super dark, its about a young girl who,due to tragic circumstances has to marry to save her family, but she was raised as an upper class so she can be quite spoilt and selfish at times (shes very headstrong and stubborn which i like, but it can backfire really quick) all the routes have something very toxic in them,im pretty sure the actual steam page has a content warning on it so idk, anyways,if you like dark tragedy and less likeable romance options then i definitely reccomend this one,i honestly do love the characters despite how bad they can be sometimes, its also a very...raunchy game so...take that as you will LMAO
-nameless,the one thing you must recall (paid):
idk anything about this one honestly, but i think its about amnesia...?
-bustafellows (paid):
idk much about this one anyways but i think its about thieves ...?i heard its good
-monster prom series (paid):
these ones are very comedic and very fun! idk what else to say honestly, just very neat ^^ very lgbt too!!
-dramatical murder (paid):
BL game that is VERY dark! i honestly do love the game but man..its very ...dark,at times...although its a very fun game im just not sure if its good to reccomend since its so..polarising
-togainu no chi (paid):
BL game made by the same people who made dramatical murder,id say its even darker and more depressing since its a death game with no escape, everyone is corrupted and morality is nowhere to be found,i definitely only reccomend this one if you want to see a bunch of gays suffer LMAO, the soundtrack is amazing tho so maybe just listen to that and stay away from the game idk
-chaos head noah (paid):
havent played this one but its a visual novel, seems pretty okay! tho i heard the guy you play as is unlikeable LMAO,seems to be a bunch of high school students with weapons so idk maybe they fight shit
-steins gate (paid):
also made the chaos head series, but i honestly love steins gate, its very dramatic and tragic and is focused on time loops and time travel, its a VERY amazing game, the protagonist is...honestly a terrible guy,but i think thats what makes him so compelling too since he genuinely just wants to do the best thing, but it kinda ruins him along the way...i love this game,if you ever have spare money you need to check it out, theres also a remake of it with (apparently) better pacing, and animated stuff too if thats interesting to you!
-my vow to my liege(paid):
genuinely dont know anything about this one but the characters look cool LMAO IM SORRY
-ozmafia (paid):
again dont know much about this one but im pretty sure its a mafia thing (obviously) i saw some screenshots of it and it looks pretty funny, but dark too,the artstyle is beautiful tho
-steam prison (paid):
im sorry.im so sorry i havent played this one yet but i heard its a great game...im so sorry (2) its steampunk and shit and lots of drama
-nightshade (paid):
you can also buy this on nintendo switch, but i have it on steam, personally i love this game, definitely reccomend, its about a ninja going on her first mission (and it goes wrong) (not clickbait) its a very tragic game, very dramatic and honestly i love it,it has alot of...icky things in it,but in general if you like to see lots of bad shit then i imagine youll love it LMAO the ost is great too!!
-psychedelica series (psychedelica of the black butterfly and psychedelica of the ashen hawk) (paid):
these 2 games are honestly some of the best visual novels i have ever played, both of them are so beautiful (for different reasons) and if you love themes of grief and death and just in general gothic stuff i think youll absolutely love them, theres less romance and more plot and honestly the plots are perfect (imo) ashen hawk is set in a medival town full of snow as you work as a handyman, and black butterfly your a modern high school student stuck in a mansion full of monsters,i did not describe them well but genuinely just look them up,i think youll be very interested.black butterfly has such an intricate and beautiful plot i got genuinely super emotional at multiple points,it keeps you hooked at every twist,i reccomend using a guide to play this game too, ashen hawk is a little less polished in the plot imo but the characters make up for it completely, and in general i love the aesthetic of this old town constantly covered in snow and fog,its just very cool! they both recquire alot of time but so worth it
-7'scarlet(paid):
idk much about this game but i heard its pretty good! its pretty dramatic from what i know and set in a modern japan
-clannad (paid):
this game is very iconic and i think its a tad overrated but in general i had a great experience with this game,i think its got a very gentle atmostphere that makes you want to keep playing it for a long time, but its definitely not for everyone, its set in a highschool and you play as a delinquent boy whose very standoffish,he meets a girl (or a few girls,if you wanna be specific) and it just keeps going from there! i think the girls are very interesting and in general i love the development of the characters!
-hakuoki series(paid):
okay so the first game (kyoto winds) is basically just there to set the scene, theres like..no romance at all,and its purely just getting you into the atmosphere and story of the game, its heavily inspired by japanese history (specifically the shinsengumi) but with fantastical elements like demons and vampires, the 2nd game (edo blossoms) tackles the more romantic side of things, and ties up loose ends, they were split in half due to size issues from the psvita days i believe...? theres a nintendo switch port coming out for both games fused into one so you could wait for that but idk anyways, you play as a girl searching for her father who was in kyoto, you end up being taken in by the shinsengumi due to you seeing something you shouldnt have and now plenty of drama happens (like. demons for example.)honestly i dont wanna spoil it but i love the characters, the banter, conversations and developments feel so...real to me, they arent perfect and do alot of shit that isnt good, they have real issues and they have real love (in a way) i specifically love how they change over time as seasons change, years go by,people die etc etc, just a very interesting experience and very iconic series!
-amnesia (paid):
i honestly dont like this game as much as i used to in highschool but its a good experience, basically the protagonist gets amnesia and now she has to hide it from her boyfriend while she tries to get her memory back(fucked up concept i know) and these guys are pretty unlikeable but i think thats what makes it work so well, because you AND the protagonist are having to figure out what you even saw in this guy in the first place at the same time LMAO its a pretty great experience if you like mystery, its dark but i also think at times it takes itself a little too seriously if that makes sense? idk
-hatoful boyfriend (paid):
okay so in this one you date pigeons. it IS a comedy game, yes. but.i just want to say this is also one of the best otomes ive played and it has an actual plot underneath all the silly shit,i completely reccomend this game if you like secrets and all that, just a fun game!
-error143 (free):
not played this yet but it looks really neat!
-our life beginnings and always (free):
really cool game, very lgbt friendly and you can customize your character! its basically about growing up,from child to adult you can choose how your life goes and how you interact with the people around you...i honestly love this game, its not the best thing ive ever played but its honestly such a cozy experience it feels like home to me like idk its such a nice fun chill game and you dont even have to romance anyone!
-a date with death (free):
havent played it but i heard its very good!!
-the house of fata morgana (paid):
havent played it yet but i heard its super good,it seems very gothic and medival from what i can see
-ace attorney series(paid):
okay so,its not rlly a visual novel but it also kinda is?? i just thought id reccomend if you havent gotten into it yet cuz idk its just a fun series!!!!!!!!!i feel like such an idiot reccomending that but hell idk

mobile games:
-ikemen sengoku:
its free but theres alot of pay to play elements in it,but despite that i think the story and character developments are amazing, although the UI is a bit clunky and outdated i just love the game alot and it was one of my first dating sims back in like 2017..
-the arcana:
very magical and has alot of tarot related things, also themes of death and other things like depression,i honestly still love this game and its very lgbt friendly!! im a big fan of muriel, but honestly all the characters are great!!i dont wanna spoil it too much but its a great experience especially if you save up coins to get better options!!
-obey me series:
okay so..i have a love hate relatshionship with this series honestly LMAO its kinda a visual novel...? sorta?? its moreso gacha but idk,its about taming the 7 deadly sin demons or whatever,i honestly am a little iffy with...the way it "pairs" the characters up,but in general i love the character development and if you just want silly fun with a bit of family issues then hey! its your game! i think the story gets a little confused later on but yknow what we ball
-love and deepspace:
this one is..honestly,imo its kinda bland and a little hard to warm up to,but man it is gorgeous,i reccomend just for that alone, has alot of super power stuff in it
-mr love queens choice:
i have not played this one in YEARS since alot of drama happened that caused the english VAs to quit (so i quit playing too) but.if you dont mind that then honestly i remember the story being pretty awesome and the guys were really good too,but the protagonist was really annoying she just caused alot of her own problems by being incredibly stupid and everyone had to keep protecting her because of it,but honestly despite that,i just love the guys, not sure whats changed in the past few years but idk man! could be worth a try
-twisted wonderland:
another one of these gacha games i havent gotten that into it but its a pretty cool game! love the characters, idk what else to say honestly...its just disney hogwarts (i will be killed by twst fans)
-tears of themis:
its a hoyo game that is another gacha but i love the guys in it,and the protagonist is neat! you play as a lawyer or attorney solving crimes and shit and your in like a secret agent thing too with these cool guys (fire emoji fire emoji)
-dislyte:
ITS NOT A VISUAL NOVEL IM SORRY BUT I WANT TO JUST SAY THAT.if you havent played this yet...i just think itd be worth your time, the designs are gorgeous (plenty of variety) the story is a little lacking but otherise just amazing game with amazing music!!! again not a visual novel i just wanted to share that .

i dont have anything else to share i hope atleast one of these is interesting im sorry i could not get the links to all of them or images but i hope atleast one of these is interesting to you!!! im sorry if i didnt describe stuff well i am currently a little frazzled!!

i just realized if you have a dark theme on the colours are gonna ruin it fuck IM SORRY

NWS!! THE FACT THAT U WENT OUTTA UR WAY TO MAKE A LIST W/ DESCRIPTIONS IS MUCH APPRECIATED OMG 😭🫶🫶

THE ARCANA!!! It is a magical fantasy romance/mystery and it is my favorite ever, it actually changed my entire brain chemistry, my main ocs are all arcana fan characters lolol

The new game owners have made some pretty wacky changes to the app but the character routs are all unaffected!!

👉👈so my bestie recommended Our Life to me and I just recently finished and I gotta say I enjoyed it a lot! It's a small companies project and I def recommend purchasing the DLCs if you can. The base game is free and the company that makes Our Life also has another visual novel coming out in the near-ish future.
